Job DescriptionJob Title: Cable Assembly Technician Job Description Join a growing cable cell team that builds high-quality cable assemblies from scratch using a batching method across multiple specialized stations. You will rotate through cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering operations, working with both manual tools and small machines to produce precise cable and wire assemblies for regulated medical products. The role offers thorough training, variety in daily tasks, and the opportunity to develop or apply IPC 610/620 soldering skills in a clean, well-organized production environment. Responsibilities • Build cable assemblies from scratch using established work instructions, blueprints, and standard operating procedures., • Work in a batching method at dedicated stations, performing cutting, stripping, crimping, or soldering on large batches of wires for efficient throughput., • Rotate between multiple stations, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering, to support production needs and maintain workflow balance., • Perform wire cutting and wire stripping operations accurately and consistently using hand tools and automated equipment where applicable., • Execute cable crimping and cable harness assembly tasks, ensuring secure and reliable electrical connections., • Perform soldering tasks once IPC 610 or IPC 620 certification is obtained or if current certifications are already held, following all quality and safety standards., • Support mechanical assembly tasks, including the use of torque wrenches and other hand tools, to integrate cables into larger assemblies as needed., • Support electronic assembly tasks, ensuring correct component placement and connection according to documentation and blueprints., • Read and interpret blueprints, travelers, documentation, and SOPs to understand build requirements and sequence of operations., • Document work performed accurately in production systems, including recording measurements, completion steps, and any deviations as required., • Use computers to access build plans, travelers, documentation, and training materials, and to record production data., • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure all assemblies meet quality specifications and regulatory requirements., • Follow all regulated work practices for building medical instruments, including proper use of ESD protection and adherence to process controls., • Participate actively in the new training program, working through a detailed training binder and applying feedback from trainers and leadership., • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth handoffs between stations and to support a fast-paced, efficient production environment., • Adhere to strict policies on phone usage and maintain focus on production tasks throughout the shift., • Be willing to work occasional overtime, including up to two Saturdays per month or adjusted schedules such as a Monday–Thursday model, as production demands require.Essential Skills, • Experience with cable or wire assembly, including tasks such as wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and cable harness assembly., • Hands-on soldering experience or strong interest in developing soldering skills for cable and electronic assemblies., • Ability to read and follow blueprints, travelers, documentation, and standard operating procedures., • Proficiency using hand tools, including torque wrenches and other basic assembly tools, in a precise and controlled manner., • Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent quality in medical-related assemblies and adherence to regulated processes., • Comfort working with both manual and machine-assisted stations in a batching production environment., • Basic computer skills to access build plans, documentation, and training materials, and to record production data., • Willingness to rotate between different stations and tasks, adapting to changing production needs., • Reliability and flexibility to support occasional overtime, including potential Saturday work or modified weekly schedules., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • IPC-610 certification for electronic assemblies is preferred but not required., • IPC-620 certification for cable and wire harness assemblies is preferred but not required., • Previous experience in medical device or medical assembly environments is a plus., • Familiarity with cable harness assembly, cable crimping, and related production processes is beneficial., • Experience working with regulated products or in regulated manufacturing environments is an advantage., • Comfort using training materials such as binders and documentation, and openness to ongoing feedback from trainers and leadership., • Ability to wear ESD protective equipment and follow electrostatic discharge control procedures.Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a very clean, comfortable, and well-lit facility focused on building medical instruments in a regulated, but not clean-room, setting. Production runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of occasional overtime, including up to two Saturdays per month or a shift to a Monday–Thursday schedule depending on business needs. The space is temperature-controlled, and the only required personal protective equipment is an ESD smock to protect sensitive electronic components. Employees may wear headphones while working, which supports concentration and a relaxed atmosphere, but there is a strict policy limiting phone usage on the production floor. The dress code allows jeans and a collared shirt, reinforcing a casual, comfortable environment. The facility includes renovated break rooms with comfortable seating, games such as shuffleboard, dart boards, and foosball tables, and access to coffee, snacks, treats, and canteen vending, contributing to a supportive and enjoyable workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
