Job Description Job Type: Environmental Compliance Specialist Job Location: NASA Ames Research Center Reports to: Director of Environmental Compliance Job Type: Full-Time Bhate is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to provide onsite support for the Wastewater and Stormwater Programs at the NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) in Mountain View, California. This position requires an individual with the flexibility to manage a diverse set of roles and responsibilities in support of environmental compliance efforts at ARC, as well as any other job duties that may be assigned. The candidate will report to the Compliance Program Manager. Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Have a working knowledge and be able to implement the general requirements (as it pertains to ARC), of:, • 40 CFR Parts 122, 123 and 124, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)., • California State Water Resource Control Board Industrial General Permit (IGP)., • General Permit for Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) for storm water discharges from small Municipal Separate Sorm Sewer Systems (MS4s)., • Associated Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)., • Review of storm water and wastewater permits regulations and associated sampling plans., • Perform inspections, evaluations and water sampling and assist with applicable plan and/or permit modifications., • Coordinate with a California ELAP certified laboratory to support ongoing permit required sampling efforts., • Review industrial and construction stormwater inspection documentation, prepared by others, to evaluate compliance and monitor operations and activities., • Monitor ARC’s overall compliance with wastewater and stormwater permits and prepare required permit-driven reports and documentation submittals., • Monitor permit expiration dates and initiate permit renewal applications, well in advance of applicable due dates., • Monitor ARC’s overall compliance with Domestic Drinking Water Permit requirements and/or federal and California drinking water requirements., • Perform routine drinking water sampling and perform field tests at numerous locations throughout ARC and associated tenant facilities., • Evaluate sampling schedules and adjust as needed., • Good communication skills, both verbal and written., • Good problem-solving skills and able to work well independently., • Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access)., • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record., • 3 to 5 years of experience preferably in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering field, • High School Diploma, Associates or 4-Year Degree and/or relevant experience and the ability to obtain relevant certification for work to be performed.
