Job Description Interim HealthCare of West Michigan is a locally owned and operated leader in post-acute care services. We believe in giving of your time when it matters most. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our growing Hospice Division as Music Therapist Volunteers. This is an unpaid volunteer position, but the impact you make through the universal language of music is invaluable. Role Summary: As a Music Therapist Volunteer, you will provide emotional and spiritual support to hospice patients through the healing power of music. Your role will be to enhance the quality of life for our patients by using music to promote comfort, relaxation, and meaningful connections. Our Personality: • Supportive Leadership: Leadership is always available to confer, consult, and advise., • Open Communication: We encourage you to speak professionally and freely., • Valued Members: As a volunteer, you are valued, seen, and heard., • Patient Engagement - Provide music therapy sessions tailored to the individual needs and preferences of hospice patients., • Play instruments, sing, or use recorded music to create a soothing environment., • Collaborate with the hospice care team to integrate music therapy into the overall care plan., • Emotional Support - Offer a compassionate presence to patients and their families., • Use music to facilitate emotional expression, reduce anxiety, and improve mood., • Documentation - Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and progress as required., • Communicate regularly with the Volunteer Coordinator and interdisciplinary team., • Team Collaboration - Work with the hospice team to understand the specific needs of each patient., • Educational Background - Musician experience, Degree, or certification in Music Therapy or a related field (students in training are welcome)., • Skills - Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments., • Ability to sing and engage patients with music., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills., • Personal Attributes - Compassionate, patient, and emotionally composed., • Ability to connect with patients and their families on an emotional level., • Must be 18 years of age or older., • Reliable transportation with a valid state driver's license and current car insurance., • Flexible Scheduling: Your time commitment is flexible, and any amount of time you can give is greatly appreciated., • Professional Growth: Gain valuable experience in healthcare and develop new skills., • Community Impact: Make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families during critical moments.
