Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift Job Description This 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician role focuses on keeping a highly automated manufacturing facility running safely and efficiently by troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and robotic systems. You will complete training on 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd shift, where you will work independently within the maintenance department alongside production operators to support automated assembly lines, robotics, and facility equipment. Responsibilities • Complete a 2–4 week training period on 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) to learn equipment, processes, and procedures before transitioning to 2nd shift., • Work 2nd shift Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., with occasional scheduled Saturday shifts of approximately five hours, as planned and negotiated in advance., • Start up machines and prepare the facility at the beginning of the shift, including powering up equipment and ensuring systems are ready for production., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 24 VDC circuits up to 3-phase 480V, wiring, sensors, and drop wires to restore equipment to safe operation., • Diagnose and resolve issues with automated equipment such as pick-and-place systems, conveyors, automated lathes, paint equipment, and fully automated assembly lines., • Troubleshoot and maintain robotic systems, including Fanuc and Kuka robots, within automated cells to minimize downtime and improve reliability., • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic systems, including hoses, valves, actuators, and related components, to ensure consistent equipment performance., • Support troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic systems to maintain proper function of automated and mechanical equipment., • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery, robotics, and facility equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life., • Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of capital equipment, including new automated and robotic systems, to support ongoing automation initiatives., • Conduct basic building and facilities maintenance as needed to support overall plant operations and safety., • Collaborate with operators and other team members to identify recurring issues, share information, and maintain smooth production flow., • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and findings clearly and accurately according to facility standards., • Work safely at all times by following lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety practices, and all facility safety policies., • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude by identifying root causes of mechanical failures and implementing effective corrective actions., • Adapt to new technologies and equipment as additional automation is introduced into the facility. Essential Skills • At least 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment., • At least 5 years of experience troubleshooting automated assembly equipment., • At least 3 years of experience working with pneumatics and hydraulics., • Proven electrical troubleshooting experience, including 24 VDC to 3-phase 480V systems, wiring, sensors, and drop wires., • Hands-on experience with automated assembly lines, including conveyors, pick-and-place systems, and automated lathes., • Experience working with industrial robots, particularly Fanuc and Kuka systems., • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain HMIs and automation-related control equipment., • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical failures., • Experience performing preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment., • Practical knowledge of pneumatics, including hoses, valves, and actuators., • Practical knowledge of hydraulics in a manufacturing or automated environment., • Willingness to learn, be trained, and adapt to new equipment and technologies., • Ability to work independently on 2nd shift while coordinating effectively with operators and other team members., • Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical, safety-conscious approach to problem solving. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Journeyman card is a plus., • Experience with fully automated assembly lines in a high-volume manufacturing environment., • Experience in supporting paint equipment and related automation., • Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and automation systems., • Experience working in highly automated facilities with multiple robotic and automated cells., • Comfort working in a setting that includes screw machines, welders, assembly lines, paint equipment, and testing equipment. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing setting that includes screw machines, welders, assembly lines, paint equipment, and testing equipment. The facility is highly automated, with a wide variety of robotic and automated cells where operators feed equipment for assembly. The organization takes pride in maintaining a clean facility and ensuring the upkeep of all equipment. Work is performed primarily on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., with occasional pre-scheduled Saturday shifts of about five hours. Initial training occurs on 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for 2–4 weeks before moving to 2nd shift. The environment is equipment-intensive and technology-focused, with ongoing introduction of new machinery to further automate processes.
