Job DescriptionAR Follow-Up Associate (Medical Billing) Location: Catonsville, MD (On-site with future hybrid option) Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months) Schedule: Full-time, business hours Experience Level: Entry to Mid-Level (2+ years healthcare AR required) Position Overview We are currently seeking AR Follow-Up Associates with healthcare billing experience to support accounts receivable operations within a long-term care/skilled nursing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, and proper reimbursement across multiple payer types. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with medical billing, claims follow-up, denials, cash posting, and payer portals, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, professional office setting. Key Responsibilities • Perform accurate pre-billing review, billing, follow-up, and cash posting for assigned accounts, • Conduct admissions and census reviews, • Complete Triple Check claim validation, • Bill across all business lines and payer types, • Perform third-party and private pay follow-up, • Post cash, denials, contractual allowances, and write-offs using EOBs/ERAs, • Research and resolve credit balances and misapplied payments, • Handle resident final billing activities, • Respond to internal and external A/R Help Desk and customer service inquiries, • Participate in month-end close processes, • Submit corrected claims, appeals, and supporting medical documentation as needed, • Translate internal charge files into proper electronic and manual billing formats (CMS-1500, UB-04), • Maintain accurate documentation and follow department standards for account notesRequired Qualifications, • 2+ years of healthcare accounts receivable experience, including:, • Billing, • Collections, • AR follow-up, • Cash posting, • Experience in a healthcare provider setting (long-term care or skilled nursing preferred), • Working knowledge of:, • Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care payers, • EOBs and ERAs (835 transactions), • Claims denials and resolution processes, • CPT and ICD-10 coding, • Experience using EMR/practice management systems, • Familiarity with payer portals, • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, • High school diploma or equivalent (required)Nice-to-Have Qualifications, • Experience with long-term care or skilled nursing facilities, • Knowledge of Vision or similar practice management systems, • Experience with cash application and complex denial resolution, • Strong understanding of electronic claims submission requirementsWork Environment, • Professional, business-casual office setting, • Approximately 55-person site with structured, team-based operations, • On-site during training (approximately 90 days), • After training, eligibility for hybrid schedule (4 days on-site, 1 day remote; Thursday remote day)Compensation & Benefits, • Pay Rate: $22.00–$25.00/hour (based on experience), • Contract-to-hire opportunity, • Eligible benefits may include:, • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, • 401(k) retirement plan (pre-tax and Roth options), • Life insurance and disability coverage, • Health Savings Account (HSA), • Employee Assistance Program, • Paid time off and leave optionsInterview Process, • One in-person panel interview with multiple managers/directors, • Candidates should be prepared to discuss:, • EOB and 835 processes, • Denial types and resolution strategies, • Systems and payer portals used, • Stability with a large, established healthcare organization, • Exposure to multiple payer types and billing complexities, • Long-term growth potential in revenue cycle operations This is a Contract to Hire position based out of catonsville, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
