Job DescriptionPhlebotomist FloaterAlternate/Related Job Titles: • Mobile Phlebotomist, • Patient Service Technician (Phlebotomy), • Position Type: Contract, • Start: As Soon As Possible, • Pay Rate: $20.24–$22/hrJob SummaryThe Phlebotomist Floater represents the face of the organization to patients seeking routine or medically necessary laboratory services. This role performs high-quality blood collection, ensures specimen accuracy, and provides patient-centered care across multiple locations. The Phlebotomist Floater also supports Patient Service Centers, In-Office Phlebotomy, Mobile, and Long-Term Care environments, ensuring all daily operational activities are completed accurately and on schedule. This position requires exceptional skill, professionalism, and the ability to coach and support new staff while handling complex or high-volume testing environments.Key Responsibilities, • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection safely and accurately for patients of all ages., • Prepare collected specimens for laboratory processing in accordance with established procedures., • Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort., • Provide reliable float coverage across multiple locations and roles based on business needs., • Support daily operational activities for PSC, Mobile, LTC, IOP, and physician office environments., • Act as a mentor, coach, instructor, or resource for new employees and new client onboarding., • Lead and support onsite PSR staff as needed, ensuring workflow accuracy and timely completion., • Collaborate with teams such as Sales, Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics for specialty patients and complex test orders., • Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with HIPAA, safety guidelines, and quality standards., • Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment with professionalism and efficiency.Required Experience, • High school diploma or equivalent., • Five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections., • Minimum three years of experience in a PSC or IOP environment preferred., • Customer service experience in a retail or service setting preferred., • Data entry and keyboarding experience., • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred., • Phlebotomy certification required in CA, NV, and WA; preferred in CT.Required Skills, • Venipuncture and capillary blood collection, • Multisite float readiness, • Strong patient communication and customer-service skillsPreferred Skills, • Experience with high-volume or specialty laboratory practices, • Leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities, • Problem-solving and collaboration with cross-functional teamsAdditional Skills from Original Description, • Handling confidential patient information, • Supporting onboarding activities, • Providing support in PSC, IOP, mobile, and LTC environments, • Managing multiple priorities efficiently, • Working with IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics for specialty needsSchedule Requirements, • Must be available 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, • No remote work, • Not a hospital-credentialing site, • Additional fields indicate float coverage justified by FMLA, retirement, and added PST room needsBenefits, • Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans We are a Native American-owned, economically disadvantaged corporation that highly values diverse and inclusive workplaces.
