Overview of the Role: The Director of Human Resources is the architect of BGCHs people strategy and the guardian of our organizational culture. The Director of Human Resources will transition seamlessly between high-level workforce planning and hands-on leadership, ensuring BGCHs HR operations are both compliant and compassionate. Responsible for managing and administering human resources functions, including recruitment, and providing stellar customer service to all Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii employees, the Director of Human Resources is a driven leader who provides advice and counsel to management in the development and implementation of policies and practices that comply with all applicable laws and regulations and are consistent with Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii mission and values. Who you are • On your resume. College degree or equivalent. Prefer PHR or SPHR certification., • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management., • Experience managing compensation, benefits, payroll and compliance programs., • Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting human resources management., • Current knowledge of best practices in human resources management., • Demonstrated ability to successfully partner and build collaborative relationships with different stakeholders., • Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentations in person and virtual., • Analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with supervisory and leadership capability., • Computer literacy, including database management., • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills., • Scrupulous attention to detail and confidentiality., • Strong administrative and organizational skills., • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship., • Must have a valid drivers license, good driving record, and meets state required automobile insurance minimums., • Able to provide three work references. What youll do Leadership • Serve as a mentor and manager to BGCHs full-time HR Coordinator, overseeing their day-to-day output, from seamless onboarding to accurate record-keeping. With a priority of empowering the HR Coordinator to master the tactical side of HR, the Director of Human Resources will focus on driving talent development, performance management, and long-term scaling., • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Board Human Resources Committee, establish and implement policies and procedures for the effective management of BGCHs human resources, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations and community practice, as well as Boys and Girls Club of Hawaiis mission and values., • Contribute to operational strategic planning, providing perspective on staffing and employee development needs to support strategic directions., • Control expenditures against budget, particularly in the areas of recruitment, compensation, benefits and staff development. Encourages proactive strategies for responding to employee relations issues to minimize potential expenses., • Manage administrative and operational systems for maintaining all employment and personnel records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements., • In partnership with BGCH Directors of Operation and BGCH Child and Club Safety Coordinator, ensure a healthy and safe environment that complies with all Boys & Girls Club of America, OSHA and other regulatory requirements., • Ensure a productive work environment that encourages positive, effective working relationships and open communications, and that is respectful of the gender and cultural diversity of staff, volunteers and members. Takes prompt, appropriate action to respond to conflicts between staff members., • Support the recruitment and selection of staff with the qualifications necessary for successful performance, recommending recruitment sources and strategies and assuring the recruitment process and associated records are maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements. Internal: • Builds and maintains a solid partnership with the HR Coordinator to ensure every employee feels supported from their first interview to their last day. Maintain contact with other Boys & Girls Club organizations, vendors, consultants, organizations, government agencies and others to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information and resolve problems.
