Job Description Operation Kindness Humane Society is seeking a Social Media Coordinator to join our team! Operation Kindness Human Society is a pioneer in Texas for assisting animals in need of veterinary care, companionship and most of all, a home. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday/Sunday. The weekend day will vary by week. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Marketing Manager – Digital & Email POSITION OVERVIEW: The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for executing the organic social media presence of Operation Kindness Humane Society for all assigned platforms. This position also supports email marketing communications and other digital programs as assigned. This position works collaboratively with Marketing, Development, and Operations teams to gather content, photos, videos, and stories for social media communications. This position serves as a brand steward, helping to ensure that digital & social media communications align under the voice and style of the organization. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager – Digital & Email to create the strategic plan for social media, both paid and organic efforts for designated programs., • Coordinate the Operation Kindness social media calendar for designated platforms and programs – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube (including some evenings, weekends, and holidays)., • Create dynamic, engaging content for digital campaigns & social media channels, supporting engagement, adoption and fundraising goals., • Develop and maintain a strong internal network to seek out story ideas and stay informed of development at Operation Kindness. Document and track ongoing and completed stories from start to finish., • Create content, graphics and copy for all social media content and ads., • Ensure that social media comments, messages and questions are responded to in a timely manner., • Manage responses to online reviews on social media channels to ensure prompt response and high-quality customer service., • Assist with managing Operation Kindness’ digital assets including categorizing and archiving photos, videos, and marketing materials., • If bilingual in Spanish, assist with translating public-facing communications including social media copy, signage, reports, flyers, handouts and more., • Keep up with the latest digital & social media best practices, technologies and trends. Identify creative new engagement opportunities, and regularly bring new ideas to the table., • Work with volunteers as needed with efforts to support the marketing and communications program, including volunteer photographers and social media volunteers., • Attend events on the weekends to create a marketing presence and obtain content and testimonials from clients and staff., • Cross-train with the Lead Digital & Social Media Coordinator to provide coverage of duties, as needed. General Responsibilities • Reports suspicion of animal abuse or neglect to any Manager or above immediately., • Reports any unsafe working conditions to any Manager or above immediately., • Maintains client, donor, volunteer, and staff confidentiality at all times., • Follows SOPs and other safety regulations at all times., • Completes all necessary and requested training in a timely manner in accordance with shelter policy., • Attends all staff meetings., • Participates in shelter events as requested by Supervisor., • Performs other duties as requested or assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or public relations or equivalent relevant experience preferred Experience Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience coordinating social media accounts, organic and paid, work experience preferred or 1 year experience in animal welfare or similar industry, • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel., • Proficient in Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop and Rush., • Proficient with Facebook (including Business Suite and Ads Manager preferred), TikTok, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube., • Experience with social media tools like Sprout Social, Later and/or Hootsuite preferred., • Knowledge of social media KPIs and how to track and report on efforts., • Knowledge of digital photography/video equipment preferred., • Experience in the animal welfare field as an employee, volunteer, or foster; knowledge of animal welfare topics and industry trends preferred., • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred Personal Requirements • Feels and expresses a genuine liking for animals for working in an animal care environment., • Supports Operation Kindness’s mission and understands how it is organized and functions as a non-profit organization., • Positive collaborative spirit and team-oriented attitude., • Strong oral and written communications skills., • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time., • Knowledge of and/or experience with animal welfare organizations desired., • Experience working with volunteers desired., • Core competencies include: planning, creativity, learning on the fly, peer relationships and written communications., • Is able to work equally well with paid staff members, clients and volunteers., • Is able to relate to person with varied backgrounds and beliefs., • Is able to work weekends., • Has a positive attitude; is open to new ideas., • Physical Effort: Position requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time and speaking over the telephone., • Working Conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces.
