Mission of Role/Position Summary: The Intern will support all emergency management functions of ACDC by assisting their supervisor and/or Peer Mentor in organizational operations related to the department functions. Interns will participate in cross-training opportunities within ACDC’s various Divisions. Interns are expected to participate in professional development activities including training, meetings with leadership, policy research, and related functions. Each Intern will have a specific work portfolio based on skill sets and desired expertise of that individual. The Recovery and Resiliency Intern will gain hands-on experience across multiple projects, providing a comprehensive view of the day-to-day work of a private sector emergency management consultant. Through rotational assignments, the intern will support project teams in disaster recovery, mitigation planning, and client coordination efforts. The role also includes contributing to research initiatives and business development activities, helping to identify innovative solutions and support organizational growth. This position is designed to build a well-rounded understanding of recovery and resiliency consulting while developing practical skills in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. Experience/Education Required: • Must currently (and throughout the internship June-August) reside in either Florida or Tennessee., • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Homeland Security, or a closely related field; or a recent graduate within the past 12 months., • 1 month – 1 year (beginner-level) knowledge/experience in emergency management, disaster recovery, mitigation planning, or resiliency principles., • 1 month – 1 year (beginner-level) customer service, client-facing, or administrative support experience., • 1 year of previous emergency management-related internship, volunteer, or work experience (e.g., disaster response, recovery programs, community outreach, or mitigation planning)., • Familiarity with FEMA programs and frameworks (e.g., Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation Grant Program), or general disaster recovery processes., • Exposure to research, data analysis, or report writing in an academic or professional setting., • Experience supporting cross-functional teams, project coordination, or stakeholder/client communication., • Interest in private sector consulting, resiliency strategy, or business development initiatives., • Must be 18 years of age or older., • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required.
