Job Description The Floor and Trash Technician at Lemontree Healthcare is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of all floors throughout the facility. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the facility's infection control measures by ensuring that floors are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and polished according to established protocols. The Floor and Trash hybrid Technician will use a variety of floor care equipment, chemicals, and techniques to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in patient care areas, public spaces, and staff areas. Shift: 3pm to 11pm M-F and every other weekend Key Responsibilities for this hybrid role: Floor Cleaning & Maintenance: • Sweep, mop, buff, and strip floors in patient rooms, hallways, dining areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces., • Perform detailed cleaning and maintenance of floors in all areas, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and sanitation are met., • Strip, wax, and polish floors in high-traffic areas to ensure a clean and professional appearance., • Apply floor finishes to maintain the integrity and aesthetic quality of floors., • Collect and properly dispose of all types of waste from designated areas within the healthcare facility, including patient rooms, common areas, offices, and restrooms., • Ensure waste is properly segregated into categories (e.g., general, biohazard, recyclable, pharmaceutical) to prevent contamination and comply with safety and regulatory standards., • Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous and biohazardous waste materials, including sharps, medical waste, and other infectious materials, in compliance with OSHA and hospital infection control policies., • Regularly clean and sanitize waste collection areas, including trash bins, carts, and containers, to maintain a safe and hygienic environment., • Maintain cleanliness in hallways, utility rooms, and loading docks where waste is handled and stored., • Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to cleaning chemicals and equipment use., • Place wet floor signs in appropriate areas to alert staff and visitors to slippery conditions., • Ensure that all cleaning supplies and chemicals are used in accordance with established safety guidelines and environmental regulations., • Adhere to all hospital safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and aprons when handling waste materials., • Follow infection control protocols to minimize the spread of pathogens and ensure safe handling of waste materials., • Report any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or accidents to the EVS Supervisor immediately., • Inspection & Reporting:, • Inspect floors regularly to identify damage or wear and report any issues (e.g., cracks, chips) to the Environmental Services Supervisor. Qualifications: Experience: • Previous experience in floor care, janitorial services, or environmental services is preferred., • High school diploma or equivalent is required., • Knowledge of floor cleaning techniques, tools, and products., • Ability to safely operate floor care machinery and equipment., • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently., • Ability to follow safety protocols and cleaning procedures., • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time., • Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely., • This position requires working in a healthcare environment, including patient care areas, public spaces, and staff areas., • The position involves regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and noise from floor care equipment., • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
