Position Overview OnYourMark Education is hiring its first dedicated information technology leader to enhance the security, reliability, and scalability of the organizations technology foundation. This role is both hands-on and strategic: you will be responsible for implementing core projects from OYMs technical roadmap, supporting staff day-to-day with critical systems, and advising leadership on future technology needs. In the first year, this means rolling up your sleeves to execute high-priority initiatives, while also serving as OYMs primary liaison to managed service providers (MSPs) and vendors, ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of security and reliability. This role will be organized within the Operations team and will report to the Senior Director of Operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who thrives in a one-person IT shop environment, is eager to take ownership, and is looking to grow the team over time. Qualifications Required • Proven experience leading IT implementation projects from planning through execution, including coordinating across multiple systems and key players., • Strong experience administering identity and access management (MFA, SSO, RBAC, password managers)., • Demonstrated experience administering and securing large-scale systems (e.g., Google Workspace, CRM, LMS, or HRIS)., • Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting authentication, access controls, file management and device management., • Familiarity with security best practices, including but not limited to incident response, data retention, backup/recovery, encryption., • Ability to identify and mitigate risks across systems, data, and vendor relationships, balancing security with organizational needs., • Applicable knowledge of regulatory requirements such as FERPA, PPRA, and COPPA., • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills; able to assess technical risks, diagnose issues, and deliver pragmatic solutions., • Experience supporting and managing an internal IT Service Desk, with a strong customer service orientation., • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines., • Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff and to represent OYM in vendor/MSP conversations., • Comfortable managing the realities of IT workplanned operations, unexpected escalations, and critical incidentswhile maintaining progress and keeping key key players informed., • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, staying current with evolving technologies and security best practices., • Availability to provide support and assist with critical and urgent incidents outside of standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed., • Degree in IT Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience., • Experience working in a small organization or startup environment requiring flexibility and problem-solving., • Familiarity with vendor management practices and oversight of third-party service providers, including MSPs., • Customer service focus with strong empathy, conflict management, and service improvement skills., • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Google Workspace Admin, CISA, CRMP, CIPM, or similar., • Experience in shell scripting for system management and automation., • Experience configuring and integrating APIs, including familiarity with low-code API platforms. Evolving Responsibilities As the first dedicated technology leader at OYM, your responsibilities will grow alongside the organization: In the first 1218 months, you will: • Establish and enforce role-based access controls and account lifecycle management across OYMs systems., • Support rollout of staff security awareness training and acceptable use policies in collaboration with leadership., • Serve as the administrator for OYMs core systems (Google Workspace, Slack, Airtable, and others)., • Support staff with day-to-day technical issues and ensure timely resolution., • Lead cybersecurity efforts, including risk mitigation planning and implementing privacy protections across IT systems., • Manage the distribution, setup, and ongoing support of IT hardware and services for a fully remote workforce, ensuring secure return and decommissioning of devices when retired., • Ensure OYMs devices are patched and applications/settings are updated regularly., • Develop and maintain documentation for technology processes and policies., • Use data to analyze helpdesk trends, drive corrective actions, and inform process improvements., • Track progress and risks using project management tools, keeping key players informed., • Support the selection of and oversee MSP service delivery, including ITSM service processes (incident, change, problem, asset, and knowledge management)., • Monitor security alerts and system logs; lead initial incident response efforts in partnership with leadership and vendors., • Develop disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity plans to support a fully remote workforce., • Lead vendor evaluations and contract reviews., • Establish device management and endpoint protection programs., • Contribute to the growth and mentoring of a small internal technology team., • Strengthen OYMs long-term data governance and business continuity practices., • Play a leadership role in shaping OYMs overall technology strategy.
