Job Description Job Summary The Retail Store Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the sports card shop, ensuring excellent customer service, effective inventory management, and a positive team and customer experience. This role leads staff, manages store performance, and supports the growth and reputation of the shop within the sports card and collectibles community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are representative of the position but are not exhaustive: • Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, • Lead, train, schedule, and supervise retail staff, • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally, • Manage buying, selling, trading, pricing, and display of sports cards and collectibles, • Maintain inventory accuracy, organization, and security, • Monitor market trends, product releases, and pricing within the sports card hobby, • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and loss prevention standards, • Manage POS systems, cash handling, and daily sales reporting, • Plan and support in-store events, promotions, and trade nights, • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment, • Collaborate with ownership on merchandising, marketing, and business strategy, • Participate in social media and marketing initiatives and identify additional opportunities, • 6 years of equivalent work experience, • High school diploma or equivalent, • Retail management or supervisory experience, • Strong customer service and leadership skills, • Experience in sports cards, gaming cards, collectibles (can be personal experience), • Specialty hobby retail, • Knowledge of grading services (e.g., PSA, BGS, SGC), • Familiarity with current sports, players, manufacturers, product releases, and hobby trends, • Advanced education and experience in a retail setting, • Ability to lead and motivate a small retail team, • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Ability to evaluate product value and market demand, • Work is performed in a retail shop environment, • In-shop role requires on-site attendance, • Remote or hybrid work is not available, • Ability to stand for extended periods, • Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds, • Meet or exceed sales, service, and operational goals, • Maintain inventory accuracy and shrink control, • Ensure restocking of shelves and display cases are continuous, • Build positive relationships with customers, staff, and vendors, • Uphold company values and represents the shop professionallyCompany DescriptionOur goal is to create a shop centered on the customer experience — a place where conversation, connection, and education are at the heart of everything we do.
