Job Description Schedule: 8am to 4:30pm Remote Monday & Friday 8am to 4:30pm In Office (Warren) Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday About the role: As the Design Release Engineer for Interior Hard Trim and Overhead Systems, you will lead the development and integration of hard trim and overhead components throughout the vehicle lifecycle. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, creative design, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and plant teams to deliver robust, feasible, and high-quality interior solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and integrate interior hard trim and overhead system components, including pillars, handles, trim interfaces, and related interior parts., • Define product requirements and ensure component designs meet program, safety, ergonomic, packaging, quality, cost, mass, complexity, and timing objectives., • Create, review, and maintain product definition using NX, including 3D math, 2D drawings, interfaces, and component packaging., • Manage part and drawing release activities, including TKO/eBOM accuracy, effectivity, configuration management, and engineering changes through GVDP., • Lead design execution, testing, validation, and issue resolution throughout the vehicle development lifecycle., • Apply dimensional engineering principles, GD&T, build stack analysis, and manufacturability feasibility to support fit, finish, and quality targets., • Use structured problem-solving methods to resolve trim fit, finish, ergonomic manufacturing, supplier, and build-related issues., • Drive collaboration with Interior Restraints Systems, Body Systems, CCC Overhead and Hard Trim, Electrical Systems, HVAC, Cargo Management, Creative Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, Suppliers, and plant teams., • Support build events, identify issues early, document lessons learned, and communicate risks, tradeoffs, and solutions to stakeholders. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred., • 3 or more years of experience developing and executing technical solutions for injection-molded and/or compression-molded interior components., • Experience with interior component design, product definition, packaging, interfaces, and component release processes., • Proficiency with NX and understanding of 3D/2D math and engineering drawings., • Experience balancing business imperatives, including cost, mass, complexity, timing, quality, and manufacturability., • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams., • Ability to operate successfully in ambiguity, rapid change, and results-driven environments. Preferred Skills: • Previous Design Release Engineer experience., • Experience with TKO/eBOM, part and drawing release, effectivity, configuration management, and GVDP processes., • Working knowledge of GD&T, dimensional stack analysis, manufacturing feasibility, and build issue resolution., • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and structured problem-solving methods., • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Green Belt certification or higher, and/or Red-X methodology.
