Job Description Job Title: Security Coordinator Department: Administration / Facilities / Risk Management Reports To: V.P. of EOC Position Summary The Security Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting security operations across the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, visitors, and community partners. This role oversees day-to-day security functions, supervises security personnel or contracted security services, and assists with implementing facility safety protocols, emergency preparedness procedures, and workplace violence prevention initiatives. The Security Coordinator works closely with leadership, Compliance, and clinical teams to promote a culture of safety and ensure alignment with healthcare regulatory standards and the mission of providing accessible, high-quality care to the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Security Operations • Coordinate daily security operations across all clinic sites and administrative facilities., • Monitor facility entry points, restricted areas, and visitor management procedures., • Oversee electronic security systems including CCTV surveillance, alarm systems, panic buttons, and badge access systems., • Conduct regular security walkthroughs and safety assessments to identify risks and recommend corrective actions., • Respond to and manage security incidents including disturbances, workplace violence concerns, theft, and safety hazards., • Conduct preliminary investigations and document incidents through detailed reports., • Coordinate with Human Resources, Compliance, and Risk Management regarding workplace incidents involving employees., • Assist with the implementation and oversight of the organization’s Workplace Violence Prevention Program., • Support training for employees on de-escalation techniques, safety awareness, and emergency response procedures., • Participate in safety committee meetings and organizational risk mitigation initiatives., • Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including:, • OSHA workplace safety regulations, • HIPAA security safeguards related to facility access and protection of sensitive areas, • HRSA Health Center Program operational requirements related to patient and staff safety, • Support coordination of emergency preparedness activities including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and disaster response planning., • Assist with maintaining the organization’s Emergency Management Plan. · Ensure compliance with the requirement that all personnel visibly wear identification badges while on site and control facility access permissions. · Monitor and regulate access to restricted or sensitive areas, including the pharmacy, medical records, server rooms, and medication storage locations. • Provide direct oversight of on-site security personnel or contracted security officers assigned to the health center., • Coordinate security staffing schedules and assignments across clinic locations., • Monitor performance and ensure security personnel follow established procedures and safety protocols., • Provide guidance, direction, and support to security staff during incidents or emergencies., • Assist in onboarding and training new security personnel on facility procedures, safety protocols, and workplace conduct expectations., • Collaborate with leadership on performance management, coaching, and corrective actions related to security staff when necessary. Education Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, Security Management, Healthcare Administration, Public Safety, or a related field preferred. Experience • Minimum 3 years of experience in security and/or safety management., • Experience in healthcare, community health centers, hospitals, or public service environments preferred., • Some knowledge of healthcare facility safety standards and regulatory requirements., • Strong incident documentation and investigative skills., • Ability to manage high-stress situations and emergencies calmly and effectively., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with staff, patients, and visitors., • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment., • Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), • Certified Protection Professional (CPP), • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or de-escalation training, • First Aid / CPR / AED certificationCompany DescriptionMiami Beach Community Health Center (MBCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to serving a predominantly low-income population in North Miami and Miami Beach, FL.
