Job Description Job Title Senior Mechanical Engineer – Generator Systems (GenSet) Location Phoenix, AZ or Buffalo, NY Department Engineering Employment Type Full-Time | Exempt Company Overview GTI designs modular infrastructure supporting backup power systems, data centers, and industrial facilities. Our generator platforms integrate engines, alternators, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and electrical switchgear into prefabricated modular power solutions used for standby power, microgrids, and mission-critical facilities. Position Overview GTI is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design modular generator enclosures and integrated power platforms. The role focuses on packaging large diesel or gas generators, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and structural frames into factory-built power modules. Key Responsibilities • Design generator enclosures, equipment skids, and structural steel frames, • Package engines, alternators, radiators, and exhaust systems within modular enclosures, • Perform structural analysis of heavy equipment mounting structures and lifting frames, • Design airflow systems for engine cooling and ventilation, • Perform CFD analysis to ensure proper airflow and heat rejection, • Develop manufacturable weldments and sheet metal assemblies, • Design access systems for serviceability and maintenance, • Integrate mechanical systems with electrical switchgear and control panels, • Support prototype builds and manufacturing integration, • Lead root cause investigations tied to vibration, cooling, or structural issues Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, • 7+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial equipment or power systems, • Experience designing structural steel assemblies and heavy equipment packaging, • Strong SolidWorks experience, • Experience with thermal and airflow analysis Preferred Qualifications • Experience with generator systems or engine-driven equipment, • Experience designing modular or containerized infrastructure, • Familiarity with standby power environments such as data centers or critical facilities GTI promotes a diverse and inclusive workforce and is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate against employees or applicants for employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, military or veteran status, marital status, or any other Federal or State legally-protected classes.
