Job DescriptionStaff Accountant - Temporary Location: Union County, NJ Schedule: Hybrid - 2 days onsite, 3 remote About the Role A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant on a temporary basis to support day-to-day financial operations and maintain accurate financial records. This role will be responsible for managing key accounting functions including financial reporting, account reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and comfortable working cross-functionally with teams across the organization. Key Responsibilities • Prepare monthly financial statements , including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports., • Manage the monthly close process , including coding invoices, setting up new accounts, and reconciling general ledger accounts., • Perform monthly bank reconciliations , verify deposits, and respond to bank inquiries as needed., • Reconcile cash disbursements, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts , and assist with accounts receivable collections., • Review and process accounts payable , ensuring invoices are paid accurately and charged to the appropriate accounts., • Support external audit activities and coordinate with software vendors when necessary., • Prepare and file tax documentation with federal, state, and local government agencies., • Oversee the purchasing and invoicing system to ensure accuracy and efficiency., • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, practices, and procedures . Qualifications, • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field., • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience., • Payroll processing experience, • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) ., • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills ., • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with accounting and payroll systems (QuickBooks or similar platforms).
