Position Summary: The Director of Programs is a strategic leader responsible for driving the success of multiple programs and initiatives across the organization. This role requires exceptional leadership, advanced multi-tasking abilities, and high-level expertise in program management, talent development, and operational excellence. The Director of Programs is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the Executive Director. The Director of Programs is responsible for the oversight and management of all Girls on the Run programs, program staff, program interns, and program volunteers. Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Outreach and Site Management • Implement the Girls on the Run strategic program plan and achieve program goals with respect to number of girls served, number of site locations and demographic requirements, • Oversee program governance, performance management, and continuous improvement efforts including site policies and procedures, • Lead the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of all curriculum materials—including coach boxes, manuals, healthy snacks, program equipment, and supplies—to ensure timely and efficient support for program delivery, • Develop effective marketing strategies that result in increasing the number of new sites each season, • Manage and support the needs of all new and existing sites and work with community leaders, schools and other groups to maximize the success of Girls on the Run programming, • Collaborate with communications team to share program impact, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and more using relevant and branded content via GOTRBC’s social media and other marketing channels, • Attend community events on behalf of the organization to raise awareness of the organization or in support of a community partnership, • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend organization events including site visits, prospective site or coach meetings, coach training, fundraisers and the Girls on the Run 5K eventsCoach and Staff Management and Training, • Lead cross-functional teams to orchestrate the successful delivery of strategic initiatives, including staff, coach, and volunteer management and liaising with Board of Directors, • Develop and maintain effective coach recruitment and retention strategies to ensure all sites are staffed and result in qualified volunteers that mirror the demographics of our community and girls served, • Leads National Coach Training (NCT) curriculum to ensure program fidelity and quality, managing all aspects of coach training, including logistics and facilitation, • Enforce current coaching policies and procedures, implementing improvements as needed, • Provide direct support to address any concerns or issues during the season including behavioral issues, facility use, coach availability/substitute needs, and other challenges as they arise, • Recognize and celebrate successful performance and improvements within the team including designing and implementing volunteer and coach appreciation opportunitiesLeadership Competencies, • Address complex and ambiguous business challenges with agility and resourcefulness, • Set and communicate clear vision, strategies, and goals for programs, aligning with broader organizational objectives, • Drive execution of complex, multi-faceted initiatives, making informed decisions that benefit the team and organization, • Analyze market trends and organizational data to inform program strategies and drive growth, • Ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of qualityBudget and Administrative, • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop, oversee, and manage program budgets, • Coordinate and manage all aspects of program operations, including events, site and coach recruitment (via Pinwheel), and related logistics, • Oversee program data collection and maintain accurate records for coaches, sites, and other program-related documentation, • Administer participant financial assistance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and effective support, • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 3-5 years equivalent work experience in a non-profit managerial role, • Exhibits strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office, data management programs, CRM systems, Google applications, Dropbox, and email, • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required to meet program deliverables and stakeholder needs. Standard business hours (9:00 AM—6:00 PM Monday through Friday) apply, but non-traditional hours will be necessary during programming, peak seasons, and major events, • Must reside within our service area and have the ability to travel independently throughout the organization’s service area using a personal vehicle for site visits or trainings/professional development, and other events, • Comfortable in a hybrid work environment, including remote and in-person work at our office in San Antonio, • Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth or wellness programs), • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus, • Training and facilitation experience BenefitsGirls on the Run values the well-being and growth of our staff.
