Position Overview: The Food & Beverage Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all concessions and bar operations at the Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center. This role ensures high-quality, efficient and compliant service during events, including managing inventory, staffing, and vendor coordination. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and experienced in food and beverage operations in a fast-paced event environment. Job Summary Under the supervision of the Arts & Entertainment Manager, the F&B Coordinator plans, organizes, and supervises all food and beverage activities for events and performances held at the Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center and other District Events. Responsibilities include hiring and supervising hourly concessions staff and volunteers, maintaining compliance with local food and alcohol regulations, coordinating with vendors, and overseeing financial transactions and inventory. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee concessions and bar operations during events and performances Hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time or volunteer food & beverage staff Maintain compliance with health codes and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) requirements Order and manage inventory of food, beverage, and concession supplies Coordinate with vendors and the District's preferred wine or beer provider Set up and break down concession stations and mobile bars when necessary Operate and reconcile point-of-sale systems; manage cash handling Create and maintain standard operating procedures for food & beverage operations Collaborate with District staff to plan themed menus and beverage offerings for special events Ensure excellent customer service and smooth operational flow during events Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of all F&B areas Run final financial reports post events JOB REQUIREMENTS: 2+ years of experience in food & beverage management or similar role Valid ServSafe Manager certification and RBS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) Knowledge of local health and safety regulations related to food and alcohol service Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Must pass background check and possess reliable transportation Knowledge, Skill and Experience: Knowledge of food and beverage service operations in event or performing arts venues, including point-of-sale systems, inventory management, alcohol service compliance, and customer service best practices. Understanding of safety, sanitation, and local health regulations is essential. • Minimum Education required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or six months of related experience in food & beverage service or hospitality. A background in event coordination or culinary arts is a plus., • Minimum Experience required: 12 years of experience in concessions, catering, or food and beverage management, preferably in a live event or performing arts setting. Supervisory experience preferred., • Other requirements: All applicants must be fingerprinted and pass a pre-employment background check. Valid ServSafe Manager certification and RBS certification are required or must be obtained upon hire. Reliable transportation to and from work is required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain a valid California class C driver's license, proof of personal vehicle insurance, and a satisfactory driving record are required. At the option of the appointing authority, persons hired into this class may be required to either possess at entry or obtain within specified time limits designated licenses, certifications, or specialized education and training relevant to the area of assignment. COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and the Microsoft Office Suite of products and possess typing skills of at least 40-50 wpm. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include Internet and email, copy and fax machines, postage meter, telephone, and answering machine. Performs heavy physical labor, such as lifting (up to 30-50 pounds), carrying heavy objects, and using a shovel and other equipment to dig. Climbs ladder and works at heights. Exposure to fumes, dust, and air contaminants which may cause eye and skin irritation. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor and outdoor environment. Theater environment. Evening or variable hours. Driving a vehicle to conduct work. Hazards include working at heights.
