Duties • You will manage naval architecture aspects of major aircraft carrier program systems integration providing the shipbuilder's and aircraft carrier platform perspective in the development and integration of subsystems, components, and products., • You will develop and set engineering policy for compliance by Navy project engineers, PARMs/ISEAs integrating their systems into aircraft carriers, and contractors developing and constructing aircraft carriers and systems., • You will plan, design and report on high-risk engineering operations required in the preparation of system and aircraft carrier design and identify technically acceptable options and negotiate the resolution of challenging integration issues., • You will represent NAVSEA 05 regarding matters of engineering policy to negotiate decisions affecting critical outcomes primarily associated with system of systems integration and ship integration., • You will demonstrate experience in planning and managing complex programs necessary for the design, maintenance, repair, modernization, certification, and development and support programs., • You will evaluate and incorporate latest development of Naval Architecture and Engineering Systems in field of technical plans, proposals and specifications governing subsequent systems design, development, production, procurement, and utilization.\nRequirements Conditions of employment • Must be a US Citizen., • Must be determined suitable for federal employment., • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program., • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above) OR Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. The NH-4 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15. Positions may or may not have a control point within bands. If the position has a control point; thus, the salary range for this position is capped at GS-15, step 05 which is currently equivalent to $191,850.
