Our client a well known and established engineering company are actively looking to hire a Quantity Surveyor reporting into the Commercial Manager based from their offices in Glasgow.\n\nJob Title: Quantity Surveyor\nLocation: Glasgow\nDuration: 12 Months\nRates: Competitive Hourly Rate - Inside IR35 / Umbrella\nHybrid Work: 3 Days Office - 2 Days Remote\n\nJob Duties:\n\nFacilitate and coordinate effective corporate governance compliance, implementation and monitoring in line with Group and the Comapnies requirements.\nThe Quantity Surveyor will work with key internal stakeholders, client and suppliers/subcontractors to drive both strategic value and operational excellence through all levels of the business.\nProvide commercial support and expertise to projects being responsible for a range of commercial activities (bid governance, reviews, change management, compensation event, contractual notices etc.)\nUndertake internal compliance, liaising with the relevant Head of Commercial (HoC) / SQS and customers as required\nSupport the CNL Project Managers with all commercial aspects on the project\nDevelop relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) ensuring alignment of objectives and mutual setting of goals\nGood understanding of the head contract terms and conditions and how these flow down to the Subcontract supply chain\nProactively ensures contract compliance exists and proposes and monitors correction plans to ensure any non-compliance is eliminated\nSupports the construction of and delivers a robust procurement project plan that delivers the objectives of the project, ensuring the deadline and budget are met and that the necessary communications and risk mitigations are in place\nManagement of commercial risk including effective management and mitigation of supply chain risk to ensure that the Company’s commercial position is best protected referring to SQS, HoC or (Senior) Project manager as the project dictates\nEnsure disallowed costs are at an absolute minimum.\nUtilise sourcing and tendering processes that meet and exceed project / programme deliverables\nEnsure that work packages are well defined, procured on suitable terms and conditions, with quantified risk\nManage the post contract commercial management of subcontracts during project execution phases and mitigating the business exposure to subcontractor claims\nEnsure contractual procedures and notices are followed and issued in a timely manner.\nEnsure all Supplier / Subcontractor compensation events / claims are adequately justified, rationally explained and recorded to support potential head contract CE’s / variations and sustain audit both externally and internally.\nSettlement of Final Accounts with Sub-contractors\nReview contracts and draft subcontract terms as required and appropriate\nCheck subcontractor invoices and certifying payments\nCollect / record event details from site to establish variations / contract charges etc.\nReview manufacturing list, liaising closely with Designers, Manufacturers and on site crews\nParticipate as a key project member Team to drive performance\nDevelop key external commercial customer relationships\nAct as ‘champion’ for the communication and embedding commercial guidance and expertise, initiatives, policies and procedures across the relevant project teams\nAct as a role model, consultant and ‘commercial’ coach to the project teams to ensure consistency of approach in commercial awareness, and developing and maintaining positive relationships\nRaise key commercial issues with higher management through both line management and functional management lines - escalate resourcing/timeline risks constructively to leadership and offers solutions\nExperience Required:\n\nEssential:\n\nEducated to degree level (or equivalent) in Building Services Quantity Surveying or have a general degree in Quantity Surveying\nRelevant experience in a Quantity Surveying role\nGood understanding of day to day commercial administration in the engineering and Construction industries\nGeneral commercial experience\nEvidence of delivering on accountabilities and driving the commercial agenda\nExperience in delivering to project commercial strategy, and to delivering on large and complex contracts and bids\nExperience in supporting large-scale projects and complex change initiatives using appropriate methodologies\nExperience in developing and sustaining positive working relationships including the ability to understand and work in line with the customers commercial strategy\nPeople management experience and commercial consultancy expertise\nExcellent NEC3/4 skills\nGood communication and inter personal skills\nDesirable:\n\nEvidence of cross-Business Unit networking, delivering speedy and proactive commercial advice and knowledge sharing\nMinimum level of Qualifications to be verified\n(*N.B. only qualifications essential to the requirements of the role need to be checked)\nEducated to degree level (or equivalent) in Building Services Quantity Surveying or have a general degree in Quantity Surveying
