The Role: We’re looking for an Estimator to join our Civil Engineering team in our Penarth office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in pricing, tendering, and supporting the successful delivery of projects. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare quantities from drawings and specifications, • Support knowledge capture, innovation, and sector initiatives, • Prepare abstracts of material and subcontract requirements for pricing, • Carry out technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations, • Produce analytical estimates, including assessment of construction plant and temporary works, • Contribute to submission document preparation and attend site visits during tenders, • Use estimating software to prepare accurate estimates, • Evaluate construction methods and propose alternatives with the bid team, • Prepare forecasts of capital expenditure, income, and cash flow, • Support day-to-day delivery on small/medium projects and assist with larger programmes, • Develop client relationships and contribute to business growth, • Ensure compliance with client governance, company policies, and quality standards, • Commit to professional development and continuous improvement Key Attributes: • Proven ability to deliver results in a client-facing role, • Strong stakeholder management skills in flexible environments, • Able to manage demanding and changing deadlines, • Supportive team player with integrity and professionalism, • Ability to mentor junior colleagues when required Qualifications / Skills: • Experience pricing work under NEC contracts (Fixed, Target Cost, Design & Build, Specification & Drawing, or ECI bids), • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, • Chartered or working towards (preferred), • Strong technical understanding of Civil Engineering with ability to promote alternative solutions Cumming Group is committed to creating a diverse workplace and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
