What we are recruiting for: We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join our Manchester Town Hall project. The role of the Senior Project Manager is to provide leadership to ensure the project management activities are conducted in compliance with Bovis health, safety, and environmental policies. Responsible for providing technical, commercial, and operational support, together with production, quality, operational/site management support and managing costs whilst creating a supportive and collaborative environment, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the Bovis business. Roles & responsibilities: • Provide leadership in the creation of skills, well-being and develop a supportive work environment for delivery staff., • Creating a detailed project strategy, plan and schedule and managing the project delivery within that plan ensuring the maximum outcomes for the client and Bovis., • Ensure quality is at a consistently high level and proactively identify quality issues, setting up and monitoring systems and outputs to ensure right first-time construction., • Establish and maintain appropriate communication and record keeping with all project stakeholders., • Review all costs and controls., • Build and maintain a qualified and experienced team. Managing the performance and development of the project team through coaching, mentoring and building the required skills and experience to ensure Bovis is recognised as a place people want to work and excels in project delivery., • Processes and Systems, use and promote Bovis standard tools and systems to deliver a successful outcome, • Risk Management, develop a comprehensive understanding of project risk and through communication and collaboration., • Compliance,, • Accountable for the implementation and compliance with all Bovis safety requirements across staff, contractors and work practices ensuring appropriate records are maintained and required reports are available., • Recognise and reward safe behaviours and practices., • Review the EHS plans and regularly review lessons learnt. Review the project sustainability objectives and targets ensuring compliance with Bovis standards and local regulatory requirements., • Build and maintain external relationships (e.g. clients, contractors/subcontracts) and develop trust and confidence Credentials • Have a related Chartership such as CIOB., • Professional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role (BSc or MSc in Project Management or Building / Construction Studies or Engineering). Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviour Skills • High emotional intelligence and able to demonstrate key leadership skills., • Proven track record of delivering successful construction projects., • Management and mentoring of staff and development of skills., • Experience of project planning and resource allocation & managing design teams., • Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively and lead the construction delivery team and construction workforce., • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible in recognising where working methods require adapting and changing to suit a change in project needs or new challenges., • Demonstrate an ability to ensure delivery of work packages and in places betterment of commercial targets., • Ability to provide leadership in the creation of skills, well-being and develop a supportive work environment for delivery staff., • Ability to manage the project delivery within a timely manner to ensure the maximum outcomes for the client and Bovis Knowledge • An in-depth knowledge of the construction process and construction methods., • Knowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards and procedures., • Expert knowledge of the construction industry., • Understanding of programme duration and sequencing of works of relevant aspects of construction Experience • Pre-construction and site establishment experience., • Experience of dealing with clients, contractors and construction activities., • Design, procurement, construction and delivery experience., • Experience in the delivery of medium to large scale residential new build projects (£50m + in construction value)., • Demonstratable experience of the delivery of major commercial office buildings., • Experienced with and capable of being part of a bid team and undertaking pre-construction planning. The Senior Sustainability & Environment Manager will lead the development and execution of the company’s UK sustainability action plan ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards and driving continual improvement. This role will drive UK initiatives to reduce environmental impact, enhance social responsibility, and achieve long-term sustainability goals across all operations and projects in the UK, based in Stockport or Borehamwood. Key Responsibilities • Working with the Group Sustainability Director, lead the development and delivery of the UK sustainability action plan ensuring alignment with Group sustainability strategy and UK specific client and legal requirements., • Manage the UK Sustainability Taskforce ensuring effective representation, accountability and outputs from all member in line with the Sustainability Action Plan., • Ensure future UK legislation changes are identified, assessed, and communicated. Collaborate with relevant stakeholder to put in place processes to ensure compliance., • Ensure a UK environmental legal register is in place, reviewed at least annually and compliance evaluated., • Manage the UK ESG and Sustainability reporting requirements ensuring alignment with Group reporting and client and UK specific reporting., • Ensure digital systems are in place to aid efficient and transparent reporting., • Manage the UK decarbonisation plan in line with OCU’s Science-Based Targets and Group decarbonisation strategy, ensuring buy-in and accountability for action owners., • Lead a team of environmental & sustainability professionals and work with Line Managers to ensure they have the appropriate competencies to support the business., • Work with business leads to ensure current and future contracts have appropriate internal and external environmental and sustainability resource., • Lead on the development and maintenance of the UK environmental management system ensuring continual improvement compliance with ISO14001 and Group sustainability standards., • Ensure an environmental aspects & Impact register is kept up to date and significant risks are communicated at a Group level via the Group Sustainability Director., • Support work winning by ensuring standard responses are in place and kept up to date. Provide relevant data, ensure bids are effectively resources, and attend bid workshops and presentations., • Work with the Group Sustainability Director to raise OCU Groups profile as a leader in sustainability by ensuring attendance and speaking opportunities at industry and sustainability forums / working groups., • Ensure environment and sustainability best practices is captured and communicated both in the UK region and across the Group., • Ensure that environmental and sustainability training and skills matrices are developed and implemented ensuring all persons with associated accountability have the right competencies to deliver their responsibilities., • Ensure environmental incidents are effectively reported and investigated with any required changes to process implemented and communicated across the business., • Ensure regular environmental inspections and audits are carried out (and accounted for in the annual assurance plan), identifying and communicating trends to business leads and lead on the development of initiatives to address change., • Develop an appropriate set of UK environmental and sustainability key performance indicators (leading and lagging). Ensure these are suitably aligned with any Group led targets. Ensure there is a means of tracking and monitoring performance and support to determine corrective action planning., • Lead on appropriate relationship management with key stakeholders (including the EA, SEPA, DEFRA, etc.) and relevant NGOs in the management of proactive interfaces and issues management., • Work and align closely with the UK H&S Director, plus quality and data reporting and governance teams to ensure a coordinated approach to SHESQ and in supporting and developing SHEQ Business Partners and front line SHEQ advisory capability in E&S., • Ensure that the sustainability and environment team becomes a UK centre of excellence for related subject matter and acts in an advisory capacity to the business. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise • Practitioner (or higher) Member of the Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals, • Degree level qualified in a relevant subject (Environmental Science, Sustainability etc)., • Extensive previous experience in deploying Environmental Management Systems and auditing of ISO14001., • Excellent leadership skills, able to influence motivate and direct both internally and externally., • The ability to coach and mentor team members and others to achieve personal and team goals., • Experience of leading and implementing sustainability strategies, • Excellent report writing and presentation skills., • Has a “can do” attitude, is methodical in their approach and can demonstrate results., • Strong analytical and problem solving skills., • Has a real passion to drive sustainability throughout the business.
