The Opportunity We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Manager from a similar or larger organisation who is looking to use their expertise to shape, lead and improve design operations within a growing business. Reporting directly to the Head of Projects, you will lead two drawing offices: • Hertford - front-end and concept design, • Norfolk - fabrication and manufacturing design You will split your time between both sites, providing strong leadership, improving processes and ensuring high-quality right-first-time design output. You will be a confident, hands-on Design Manager with strong leadership skills and a practical engineering background. Key Responsibilities • Lead and develop the Hertford and Norfolk drawing offices (currently 9 team members), • Streamline processes between both offices, including the introduction and implementation of 3D CAD software, • Work closely with production teams to improve efficiency and manufacturability, • Establish, maintain and enforce high standards of drawing practice, • Implement and manage a robust drawing checking and approval system, • Build and maintain a comprehensive library of standard design details, • Plan, allocate, and manage drawing workloads to meet customer and internal deadlines, • Facilitate lessons-learned reviews to drive continuous improvement, • Organise and lead design review meetings with internal and external stakeholders, • Liaise closely with directors, senior leadership, customers and third parties to ensure designs meet acoustic performance, commercial requirements, health & safety standards, quality and installability and statutory and regulatory requirements, • Provide full people leadership, including performance reviews and 1-to-1's, recruitment and onboarding, training and development, and discipline and goal setting, • Produce and report monthly KPI's to the Head of Projects Experience • Engineering experience in sheet metal fabrication, • Experience designing products for the construction industry, • Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks, • Experience producing 2D drawings and co-ordinating designs with customers and third parties, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desirable Experience • Experience using Autodesk Revit and RADAN 30, • Experience conducting dimensional site surveys, • Experience working with an ISO9001- accredited business What They Offer • Company laptop and mobile phone, • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (3 days to be taken between Christmas and New Year, • Private Health Insurance (after qualifying period), • Pension Scheme, • Death in Service benefit, • Training and continued professional development

What you’ll be doing As our Programme Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of a major transformation programme focused on how the IET works with and supports volunteers across the organisation. You’ll bring together a number of interconnected projects, helping to shape a clear programme roadmap and ensuring activity across different workstreams is aligned, well-planned and moving forward. Working closely with project leads and senior stakeholders, you’ll create the structure, governance and visibility needed to keep the programme on track. This is a role where you’ll need to be comfortable working with complexity and some ambiguity. Not everything will be fully defined from the start, so you’ll play a key role in connecting the dots between different initiatives, helping teams prioritise effectively, and making sure progress is clear and measurable. A big part of the role will involve working with people across the IET, including colleagues, senior leaders and volunteers. You’ll build strong relationships, support teams to navigate change and help bring people along on the journey as new ways of working are introduced. You’ll also provide coaching and guidance to project leads, helping them deliver their workstreams effectively while ensuring risks, interdependencies and issues are identified early and managed proactively. Along the way, you’ll report on progress to senior leaders and governance groups, providing clear insights and recommendations that support confident decision-making. What we hope you can bring to the role We’re looking for an experienced Programme Manager with a strong track record of delivering complex programmes that involve multiple projects, stakeholders, and moving parts. You’ll be confident bringing structure and clarity to large initiatives, while remaining comfortable working in environments where priorities evolve and not everything is defined from the outset. Strong stakeholder management will be essential. You’ll have experience working with people at different levels of an organisation, building trust, influencing decisions and supporting teams to work together effectively. You’ll also understand that transformation is ultimately about people. Experience supporting organisational or cultural change will be valuable, particularly where you’ve helped colleagues adopt new ways of working or navigate periods of transition.
