HEAD OF PEOPLE REPORTING TO DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE AND CULTURE The Head of People is responsible for leading the delivery of a high-quality, values-led HR business partnering service across the organisation. As the Head of People, you will be a key member of the People and Culture team, reporting directly to the Director of People and Culture. You will have shared accountability for driving and supporting a positive culture across the business that reflects transparency, safety, and our core values of compassion, integrity, respect, and excellence. This role focuses on shaping the People strategy and driving key initiatives in Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ED&I), Leadership Development, and Organisational Culture. You will also play an instrumental role in managing critical HR functions such as Reward & Recognition, Benefits, and ensuring employment law compliance across our diverse workforce. You will work collaboratively with leaders across the business to ensure that our people practices support our mission to provide exceptional care and education services, creating a safe and inclusive environment for all employees. Operational leadership Lead the delivery of an effective HR business partnering model across the organisation, ensuring HR support is proactive, solution-focused, and aligned to business needs. Oversee the ER team in delivering consistent, high- quality advice and support across all sites and services. Develop and implement people plans that align to our strategic priorities and local operational needs. Employee Relations Oversee all aspects of employee relations, ensuring that employee grievances, disputes, and performance issues are managed in a fair, consistent, and legally compliant manner. Provide expert guidance to managers and leadership on resolving complex employee relations issues while ensuring adherence to company policies and employment law. Foster an environment where employees feel supported and safe to raise concerns and ensure that issues are addressed transparently and swiftly. Stay abreast of changes in legislation, ensuring all people policies, practices reflect current legal requirements. Employee Engagement Lead the development and execution of an employee engagement strategy that aligns with our values and mission, focusing on creating a culture of transparency, trust, and continuous improvement. Use employee feedback tools, surveys, and engagement initiatives to measure satisfaction and drive actionable insights that enhance the employee experience. Work alongside managers and leaders to implement programmes that reinforce employee motivation, retention, and alignment with our core values. Equity Diversity, & Inclusion (ED&I) Champion ED&I initiatives, ensuring our commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workforce is woven into every aspect of the People strategy. Develop and implement policies and practices that promote diversity in hiring, career development, and leadership opportunities. Continuously monitor and report on the impact of ED&I efforts, driving continuous improvement and ensuring that our culture remains open, inclusive, and aligned with the business’s values. Culture & Leadership Development Play an integral role in shaping and reinforcing our organisational culture, ensuring it reflects values of transparency, safety, and inclusivity in all areas of the business. Work closely with the Director of People and Culture and senior leadership to develop leadership development programmes that cultivate a strong leadership pipeline, focused on the values of compassion, integrity, and service excellence. Ensure that all leadership initiatives are aligned with our vision of fostering a positive, safe, and collaborative work environment. Manager Upskilling & Capability Building Supporting the Director of People and Culture, develop and deliver manager upskilling programmes that enable leaders to drive performance, engage their teams effectively, and uphold our values of respect, safety, and transparency. Provide ongoing coaching and training to managers to enhance their ability to lead teams in alignment with our goals, emphasising ethical leadership, performance management, and empathy. Data & MI Reporting & Dashboards Lead the development and maintenance of HR reporting systems, ensuring accurate and timely people metrics related to engagement, turnover, performance, and other key HR functions. Create and manage dashboards to track key HR KPIs, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making and strategic planning. Regularly report on progress toward achieving people and culture goals, providing visibility to senior leaders on areas of success and opportunities for improvement. PERSON REQUIREMENTS: Essential: CIPD Level 7 qualified Proven Leadership Experience: Senior HR experience, ideally within an organisation focused on care, education, or similar sectors. Strong Employee Relations & Engagement Expertise: Extensive experience in managing employee relations, promoting engagement, and creating a positive work environment aligned with core values. ED&I Commitment: Proven track record of driving effective diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies that foster a culture of belonging and inclusivity. Knowledge of Employment Law: In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and regulations, with experience navigating complex legal issues and ensuring compliance. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong ability to analyse HR data and use MI tools to inform decisions and track performance. Culture Stewardship: Demonstrated experience in shaping and embedding organisational culture, ensuring alignment with core values and positive employee outcomes. Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation, providing clarity, transparency, and support
