About the job To work within the SWR Infrastructure and Property team and support maintenance activities that ensure all plant, equipment, and buildings across the SWR network are being maintained to the relevant standards, which contributes to SWR delivering a service our customers can trust, and that we can all feel proud of. Your main responsibilities will be: • Assist in the maintenance, repair, and servicing of building services systems on depots and stations, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, passenger information systems., • Support experienced engineers in diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions., • Support depot maintenance staff in completing statutory maintenance tasks and reactive works., • Participate in routine inspections and audits of facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations., • Collaborate with the Depot and Stations Facilities and Asset Management Teams to identify areas for improvement and assist in the planning of maintenance works., • Document maintenance activities and support the reporting of any issues to ensure timely resolutions., • Engage in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to building services., • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures while on duty., • Maintains professional and ethical working relationships with internal, external, and other stakeholders., • To attend relevant meetings or training sessions, as required by your apprenticeship., • GCSE (or equivalent) at A*-C/4-9 in English or a British Sign Language (BSL) qualification as an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL., • GCSE (or equivalent) at A*-C/4-9 in Mathematics OR Functional Skills L2 English and Maths., • Wiliness to learn, good communications skills and demonstrate communicating ideas to stake holders and working with a broad range of people at all levels whilst upholding the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion., • Strong problem-solving skills., • A desire to pursue a career in the railway industry., • Flexibility - this apprenticeship may involve early or late shifts and travel to other areas on our network., • Able to use information technology to communicate by e mail and basic use of office software along with an ability to learn to use bespoke software to record work completed during the working day., • Ability to use your initiative., • Proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail., • Willingness to undergo training and development to enhance skills and knowledge in the role. Basingstoke Campus, more commonly known as the ROC, is a state-of-the-art Operating Centre and training facility located a short walk from Basingstoke station. It is a shared facility with Network Rail and is the hub for all operations across the Wessex region.
