We are looking for a Strategic Buyer for a 12-month contract based in Bristol on behalf of Rolls-Royce who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planets vital power needs. Please note this position is going to be hybrid. The successful candidates will initially be focussing on the procurement of Engine Test, Test Services and Research and Technology, to support the readiness of Roll-Royce strategic engine and test bed programmes. Working within the Group Procurement, the role of the Buyer will support the creation of the integrated category strategy(s) as well as the execution the associated strategic sourcing and commercial activities. The Buyer will be responsible for strategy execution, sourcing, supplier selection, contracting and in-contract management of designated suppliers, providing continuity of supply and required levels of technology, quality, cost and delivery performance. The role sits within the Defence Procurement team providing services to Indirect Procurement. Core duties and responsibilities Supplier Relationships: Manage partners and suppliers where designated. Cost Management: Work with suppliers to identify and deliver cost reductions per agreed contracts using relevant cost models. Strategic Sourcing: Support sourcing and commercial activities to maximise value across designated commodities/categories; develop fact-based understanding of supply base, supplier economics, and market trends. Strategy: Assist in developing and deploying integrated commodity/category/supplier strategies; collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet current and future manufacturing needs. Quality & Delivery: Select supply chains that meet quality and delivery requirements; manage and resolve related issues. Processes & Procedures: Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain accurate purchasing records per regulatory requirements. High-Performing Team: Support embedding and sustaining a high-performance culture within teams. Programme Management: Apply planning and project management skills to develop workable solutions; support risk management practices to assess, communicate, and mitigate supply chain risks. Stakeholder Management: Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support functional priorities. Supplier Code of Conduct: Ensure understanding and compliance with the Global Supplier Code of Conduct; address or escalate supplier compliance concerns. Key Skills and experience required (E.G skilled or unskilled) A minimum of 5 years of proven Procurement and sourcing experience and a track record in delivering cost savings is preferred B. TECH/ BE (preferred not essential) CIPS or studying towards full membership (preferred not essential) Has a proven track record of delivering results. Global outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working Good planning / project management skills. Strong commercial acumen.
