Overview Sussex Partnership have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our acute services at Mill View Hospital in Hove (Brighton and Hove Division). The post is based on Falmer Ward (10 PA's, 20 bed acute adult mental health ward) with a 0.7 WTE Specialist (SAS) grade doctor. Falmer Ward sits within Mill View Hospital, alongside four other acute wards with their own medical teams. The Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team is located within the hospital and supports discharges. Mill View Hospital is also the base for some Brighton and Hove Community Mental Health Teams. The Consultant will work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver person-centred mental health care and will be supported by nursing staff, occupational therapists and psychologists. Medical students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School are regularly involved on rotation. Main duties / Responsibilities Provide assessment and treatment for voluntary and detained patients with a range of acute mental health conditions. Work closely with the nursing team, allied health professionals, families and carers. Provide senior medical leadership to the ward, lead in managing complex cases, and offer clinical advice to primary care, community services and acute specialties. Offer specialist medical advice and consultation to a range of health and social care staff to promote effective delivery of person-centred mental health care. Collaborate with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to contribute to local service development and participate in a Trust-wide consultant network, including weekly academic programme meetings and clinical governance sessions. About us This job attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £45,000, in addition to (up to) £8,000 relocation allowance. The Recruitment and Retention payment is paid in instalments: £15,000 on successful recruitment; £10,000 at 12 months; £10,000 at 24 months; £10,000 at 36 months. Person Specification Eligibility Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment Transport Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months. In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.
