Job Title: Vice President, DevOps Industry: FinTech Location: United Kingdom (Fully Remote) Salary: Up to £150,000 base + 12% bonus Type: Permanent, Full-time A rapidly growing global payments technology organisation is seeking a Vice President of DevOps to lead and scale its DevOps function. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining the strategy, roadmap, and operational excellence of the engineering delivery platform across the organisation. Working closely with senior technology leadership, you will drive the evolution of DevOps practices, ensure the reliability and scalability of the engineering platform, and build a high-performing team that enables engineering teams to deliver software faster and more securely. This role requires both strong technical credibility and exceptional leadership capability to influence strategy and deliver measurable outcomes across the business. The Role: • Lead and develop the DevOps organisation, overseeing hiring, performance management, career development, and succession planning., • Build and scale a high-performing DevOps team across multiple levels of seniority while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement., • Define and deliver the multi-quarter DevOps strategy and platform roadmap aligned with wider business and technology objectives., • Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and operations leadership to align priorities and deliver shared technology outcomes., • Establish and track DevOps OKRs, connecting platform investments to measurable business outcomes and delivery performance., • Maintain technical oversight of the engineering delivery platform including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, containerisation, and developer tooling., • Ensure platform reliability, security, and continuous improvement across cloud and on-premise environments., • Lead the implementation of DevOps best practices across the organisation, improving delivery speed, stability, and developer experience., • Implement and lead a FinOps culture, providing visibility into cloud and infrastructure costs and driving cost optimisation initiatives., • Manage the DevOps tooling and headcount budget, making strategic build-vs-buy decisions and managing vendor relationships., • Oversee incident response and reliability practices for the engineering platform, ensuring effective post-incident reviews and remediation., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using delivery metrics and operational insights to evolve engineering practices. Skills Needed: • Significant experience leading DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure teams within a large-scale technology environment., • Proven track record of building and developing high-performing engineering teams and managing senior technical talent., • Strong background in DevOps and platform engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerisation, and cloud delivery., • Deep understanding of modern engineering tooling and delivery platforms., • Experience defining and executing technology strategies that align with business objectives., • Experience implementing FinOps practices and managing cloud or infrastructure cost optimisation initiatives., • Strong experience managing engineering budgets, tooling investments, and vendor relationships., • Proven ability to collaborate with senior technology leaders and influence cross-functional strategy., • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills., • Experience working across both cloud platforms and on-premise infrastructure environments., • Strong understanding of modern DevOps security practices and compliance requirements., • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for executive stakeholders.
