Job Description – Business Development Manager (Heat Pumps) Company: Hex Energy Ltd Location: Hybrid (UK-based – travel required) Reporting to: Director Role Overview Hex Energy is a specialist provider of heat pump design, consultancy, and installation services across the UK, with a specialism for Ground Source. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead and expand our presence in the residential sector. This role will focus on identifying, developing, and securing opportunities ranging from individual self-build projects through to large-scale residential developments, high-rise retrofit schemes, and multi-property retrofit programmes. The successful candidate will play a key role in positioning Hex Energy as a market leader in residential GSHP and low-carbon heat solutions, building strong relationships with developers, consultants, and key stakeholders. Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Growth • Identify and generate new business opportunities within the residential sector, including:, • Self-build and one-off bespoke installations, • Property developers (regional and national), • High-rise residential retrofit projects, • Large-scale retrofit and decarbonisation programmes, • Develop and deliver a structured pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with company growth targets, • Track market trends, policy changes, and funding opportunities to inform business strategyClient & Stakeholder Engagement, • Build and maintain relationships with:, • Property developers and housebuilders, • Architects and M&E consultants, • Local authorities and housing associations, • Main contractors and retrofit delivery partners, • Act as the key commercial contact for residential GSHP projects, • Represent Hex Energy at meetings, industry events, and CPD sessionsPre-Construction & Technical Engagement, • Work closely with internal design and estimating teams to:, • Develop early-stage concepts and feasibility discussions, • Support the production of proposals, budgets, and technical solutions, • Confidently engage with technically minded clients, explaining GSHP systems, benefits, and commercial viability, • Contribute to value engineering and solution optimisationPipeline Management & Reporting, • Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and forecasts, • Report regularly on pipeline performance and conversion rates, • Develop account plans for key clients and strategic partnersStrategic Development, • Support the development of Hex Energy’s residential sector strategy, • Identify partnership opportunities with developers and delivery frameworks, • Contribute to wider business growth initiatives and service offeringsKey Targets, • Revenue growth within the residential GSHP sector, • Pipeline value and conversion rates, • Number of new developer and partner relationships established, • Contribution to repeat business and framework agreementsSkills & Experience RequiredEssential, • Proven experience in a business development or sales role within:, • Renewable energy / heat pumps / low-carbon heating or, • M&E / building services / construction sector, • Strong understanding of the UK residential construction and development market, • Experience working with developers, consultants, or main contractors, • Ability to manage complex, consultative sales cycles, • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, • Commercial awareness with the ability to structure and close dealsDesirable, • Specific experience with ground source heat pumps or district heating systems, • Knowledge of:, • Retrofit funding mechanisms and policy (e.g. social housing decarbonisation), • Planning and design considerations for low-carbon systems, • Existing industry network within residential development or retrofit sectorsPersonal Attributes, • Proactive and results-driven, • Commercially astute with a strategic mindset, • Credible and confident in front of technical and non-technical stakeholders, • Highly organised with strong pipeline management discipline, • Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach
