Job Description HSE Manager – Power Generation Construction Projects Location UK based power generation project sites Reports to NPS Site Manager Purpose of Role The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental strategies to ensure compliance with UK legislation, CDM Regulations, and industry best practices. This role ensures safe execution of construction activities, risk mitigation, and environmental stewardship across complex power generation projects. A key attribute of this position will be the interest and willingness to implement advanced project management tools on the project. Key Responsibilities • Develop and enforce site-specific HSE plans and procedures., • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, UK HSE legislation, and company standards., • Conduct risk assessments, method statement reviews, and permit-to-work systems., • Perform regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance., • Investigate incidents, near misses, and implement corrective actions., • Maintain accurate HSE records and produce monthly performance reports., • Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training., • Promote a strong safety culture and behavioural safety initiatives., • Ensure competency of subcontractors and workforce in HSE practices., • Implement environmental protection measures and waste management plans., • Monitor compliance with environmental permits and sustainability targets., • Support carbon reduction and pollution prevention initiatives., • Liaise with regulatory bodies (HSE, Environment Agency) and clients., • Chair HSE meetings and communicate performance metrics., • Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety into planning and execution. Skills & Qualifications Essential: • Extensive experience in HSE management within power generation or major infrastructure projects., • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent; IOSH Chartered status preferred., • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK health & safety law., • CSCS card and First Aid certification. Desirable: • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering., • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards Personal Attributes • Strong leadership and influencing skills., • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities., • Proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement
