Production Engineer (Rail) £50,000 - £60,000 + 33 Days Holiday + Development + Company Benefits + Potential for 1 Day WFH Derby Certain Advantage is hiring for a Production Engineer based in Derby. This role is on a permanent basis and is primarily site-based, supporting workshop and operational teams. Are you a Production or Mechanical Engineer with rolling stock experience, looking to play a hands-on role supporting maintenance, overhaul, and modification activities? The Company: We are working with a well-established, highly successful rail engineering services provider based in Derby, supporting passenger and freight operators across the UK. With an expanding pipeline of rolling stock maintenance, overhaul, and modification work, the business is strengthening its engineering support capability. The Role: This role is for a Production Engineer with rolling stock experience, supporting engineering delivery across freight and passenger vehicles. You will work closely with workshop and operational teams, providing technical support, producing engineering documentation, and ensuring work is delivered safely and efficiently in line with industry standards. Day to Day: • Provide engineering support for maintenance, overhaul, and modification of rolling stock, with a focus on bogies and associated systems, • Produce clear engineering work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation, • Respond to technical queries from workshop and production teams, offering practical solutions, • Raise and manage technical queries with customers, ensuring timely resolution, • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for engineering activities, • Support fault finding and root cause analysis on rolling stock components, • Ensure all engineering work complies with rail standards and safety requirements, • Work closely with production teams to deliver safe, practical engineering solutions, • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to support delivery, • Manage part numbering and support ERP system updates, • Contribute to continuous improvement across production and engineering processes The Individual: • Experience working with rolling stock (maintenance, overhaul, or modification), • Strong understanding of rail vehicle systems (bogies, braking systems, structures, couplings), • Experience supporting workshop or production environments, • Experience producing engineering documentation and work instructions, • Familiar with rail industry standards and safety requirements, • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or qualified through experience Benefits: • Employee Electric Car Scheme, • Cycle to Work Scheme, • Annual Salary Reviews & Pension Contributions, • Monthly Rewards & Recognition, • Long Service Awards & Gift Vouchers, • 33 Days Holiday (increasing with service), • Company Socials, • Career Development & Sponsored Training, • Free Eye Tests & Specs Vouchers, • Free On-site Parking, • Holiday Trading Scheme, • Employee Discount Platform (Retail, Gyms, Tech, Travel), • Employee Assistance Programme Does this sound like your next career move?
