Job Role: Residential Childcare Trainer / AssessorLocation: North West (Hybrid with Regional Travel)Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annumContract: Permanent, full-timeRole Overview We are recruiting an experienced and committed Residential Childcare Trainer / Assessor to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications. This hybrid role combines remote delivery with face-to-face learner support, requiring travel across the North West. As a Residential Childcare Trainer / Assessor, you will manage a caseload of approximately 50 learners, supporting them from induction through to timely completion. You will play a key role in developing learners’ knowledge, skills and behaviours, ensuring they meet occupational standards while delivering a high-quality, compliant and engaging learning experience. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Trainer / Assessor, or a strong Residential Childcare professional (e.g. Senior, Deputy or Manager) looking to transition into training and assessment. Full support will be provided to achieve the Level 3 CAVA qualification where required, with salary aligned to experience and qualification level.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching, Learning & Assessment\n\n • Qualification Delivery: Deliver and assess Residential Childcare qualifications up to Level 5.\n, • Session Planning: Plan and deliver engaging sessions using blended learning approaches.\n, • Tailored Support: Provide tailored teaching and assessment aligned to learner needs.\n, • Competence Development: Support learners to develop occupational competence and professional behaviours.\nLearner Management & Progression\n\n, • Caseload Control: Manage a caseload of approximately 50 learners, ensuring timely progression and achievement.\n, • Onboarding Plans: Conduct initial assessments and create Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).\n, • Coaching & Reviews: Provide ongoing coaching, feedback and progress reviews.\n, • Workplace Liaison: Engage with employers and managers to support learner development.\nAdministration & Compliance\n\n, • Portfolio Management: Maintain accurate learner records, progress tracking and e-portfolio documentation.\n, • Quality Frameworks: Ensure delivery meets awarding body and compliance standards.\n, • Inspection Support: Prepare for and support internal and external quality assurance activity.\n, • Target Management: Work to performance targets including achievement rates and timely completions.\nDelivery & Travel\n\n, • Blended Formats: Deliver a mix of remote and face-to-face sessions.\n, • In-Person Visits: Conduct learner visits in line with programme requirements.\n, • Regional Travel: Travel across Bristol and the West of England region as required.\nTraining & Development Opportunity\n\n, • Candidates without an assessing qualification will be supported to achieve the Level 3 CAVA\n, • Ideal for experienced practitioners moving into L&D\n, • Salary will reflect current experience and increase with qualification completion\nEssential Criteria\n\n, • Sector Credential: Relevant qualification in Residential Childcare (Level 3 or above).\n, • Delivery Experience: Experience delivering or assessing Residential Childcare qualifications (L4/L5 preferred).\n, • Caseload Management: Ability to manage a caseload effectively within a target-driven environment.\n, • Core Skills: Strong organisational, planning and time-management skills.\n, • Logistics: Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.\n, • Experience in a Senior / Deputy / Management role within children’s homes.\nDesirable Criteria\n\n, • Leadership Award: Level 5 qualification in Leadership & Management.\n, • Qualifications: Recognised teaching or assessing qualification (TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/33 or equivalent).\n, • Delivery Experience: Experience delivering or assessing Residential Childcare qualifications (L4/L5 preferred).\n, • Quality Monitoring: Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification.\n, • Funded Learning: Experience delivering apprenticeships or funded provision.\n, • Hybrid Systems: Experience in hybrid or remote delivery environments.\nAdditional Information\n\n, • Work Framework: Hybrid role combining remote delivery with regional travel.\n, • Capacity Benchmark: Caseload typically averages 50 learners, dependent on experience and competence.\n, • Background Verifications: Role subject to relevant background and compliance checks.\nHow to Apply If you are ready to take the next step in your career as a Residential Childcare Trainer / Assessor, please contact us.
