The Role – Senior Ecologist: As an Senior Consultant, you’ll be the go-to expert for leading your own exciting projects. Your role will involve: • Conducting a variety of ecological surveys, including protected species surveys and habitat assessments (UKHab)., • Preparing comprehensive ecological reports, such as Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments., • Advising clients on ecological constraints, opportunities, and mitigation strategies., • Collaborating with landscape planning and arboriculture teams to deliver integrated project solutions., • Supporting the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and planning applications., • Liaising with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery., • Contributing to fee proposals and tender documents. Essential Attributes: • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline., • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent experience., • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policies., • Proven experience in conducting and leading a variety of ecological surveys., • Working knowledge of UKHab survey techniques and Statutory BNG., • Desired experience using GIS to produce highly accurate digital outputs (QGIS)., • Excellent report-writing skills with attention to detail., • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or working towards it., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team., • A full UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites.
