Job Description· Position: Staff Accountant · Industry: Real Estate Employment Type: Temporary to Hire · Location: On-site in Costa Mesa · Pay: $33.65 an hour · Recruiter: Letty Stuard, LHH Recruitment Solutions Position Overview Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities within a real estate investment and operating business that includes retail and hospitality concepts. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. Key Responsibilities • Process payroll accurately and timely, including review of hours, tips, PTO reconciliation, and payroll-related tracking, • Manage accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, supporting documentation, and ensuring timely vendor payments, • Oversee accounts receivable, including reconciling daily sales, verifying deposits, and ensuring accurate revenue recording, • Perform regular bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations, • Assist with month-end close activities and support financial reporting, • File sales and use tax returns as required, • Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and filing deadlines, • Support ad hoc accounting projects and provide administrative assistance as needed, • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and management to resolve discrepancies and improve processesQualifications, • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required, • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and full-cycle accounting, • Experience working in a multi-entity or small-business environment preferred, • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) and Excel, • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines, • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindsetWhat We're Looking For Someone who is reliable, proactive, and comfortable owning core accounting functions-especially payroll, AP, and AR-while supporting a dynamic and operationally focused accounting team.
