Job DescriptionJob Title: CDL Class A Driver – Seasonal Road Crew Job Description This seasonal CDL Class A Driver role supports road construction crews throughout the Midwest region. You will travel with crews to job sites across Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and surrounding areas, often staying out of town for up to two weeks at a time. This is a hands-on position where you not only drive various commercial vehicles but also assist with on-site operations, including loading and unloading materials, preparing surfaces, and supporting daily paving activities. The role typically offers substantial weekly hours during peak season and is ideal for dependable, team-oriented drivers who enjoy physical work in an outdoor construction environment. Responsibilities • Operate and drive a variety of trucks assigned to the road crew, including dump trucks, tractors pulling lowboys, service trucks hauling over 10,000 lbs., and company pickups., • Transport equipment and materials safely to and from job sites across multiple states in the Midwest region., • Load, unload, and apply pavement materials as needed to support road construction and paving operations., • Perform manual labor to prepare surfaces for paving, including assisting the crew with site preparation and cleanup., • Assist with machine startup and shutdown, and support daily on-site operations as needed by the crew., • Ensure proper loading and securement of materials and equipment before transport to comply with safety and regulatory standards., • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs, driving records, and DOT-related documentation as required., • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining a strong focus on safety and productivity., • Collaborate closely with crew members, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment., • Adapt to changing job sites, schedules, and travel requirements, including being away from home for up to two weeks at a time., • Support general construction tasks as needed, including unloading materials and assisting with construction-related duties on-site.Essential Skills, • Valid CDL Class A license., • Ability and willingness to travel regularly and stay out of town for up to two weeks at a time., • Strong work ethic with the ability to work long hours, typically 50–70 hours per week during peak season., • Ability to perform physical, hands-on work, including loading, unloading, and manual labor on construction sites., • Comfort working outdoors in varying and sometimes harsh weather conditions., • Team-player mentality with a positive, cooperative attitude., • Ability to safely operate and maneuver dump trucks, tractors pulling lowboys, service trucks hauling over 10,000 lbs., and company pickups., • Capability to complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain required DOT logs and driving records.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Mechanical aptitude, with the ability to assist with basic equipment checks and support machine startup., • Experience in construction, road work, or paving environments., • Familiarity with loading, securing, and transporting heavy equipment and construction materials., • Comfort working in a seasonal role that typically runs through late November or early December, with a layoff period during winter months and return around April., • Openness to sharing hotel rooms with coworkers while traveling to help manage lodging costs., • Experience with CDL driving in multi-state regional routes, particularly in the Midwest., • Willingness to support both driving and non-driving tasks as part of a road crew.Why Work Here?
