Job DescriptionJob Title: Assembler – 1st Shift Job Description This role involves assembling large commercial HVAC units in a modern manufacturing facility on a 1st shift schedule. You will work at a designated station on the assembly line, receive hands-on training, and contribute to building high-quality units used in large buildings such as hospitals, apartment complexes, and commercial facilities. The position may be based in one of several plants, with the possibility of transitioning between facilities as production needs evolve. Responsibilities • Perform repetitive mechanical assembly work at a designated station on the production line, following established procedures and training., • Assemble large HVAC units and their components for commercial applications such as apartment complexes, hospitals, and large buildings., • Rotate between different stations over time as work assignments change based on customer and production needs., • Use hand tools and power tools daily to assemble, secure, and install parts and components., • Follow detailed work instructions to assemble different components of the AC units accurately and efficiently., • Stand and move around the facility for a large portion of the workday while performing assembly tasks., • Participate in safety training during the first week and strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines., • Perform brazing, soldering, and operation of machines and presses once fully trained., • Hang and unhang parts as part of the assembly and finishing processes., • Conduct quality checks and tests on units and components to ensure they meet specifications., • Support multiple rounds of testing on units before they are released for shipment., • Report any malfunctions, defects, or irregularities in equipment or product quality to the production supervisor promptly., • Climb into units as needed to assemble internal components, ensuring all parts are properly installed., • Learn to read and interpret blueprints to understand assembly requirements and component placement., • Work collaboratively with team members and a lead technician, following guidance and feedback to improve performance and product quality.Essential Skills, • At least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment., • Physical ability to bend, twist, and move comfortably while assembling components, including working inside large units., • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repetitively, up to approximately 44 times per shift, based on prior work history., • Comfort with climbing into large units to assemble internal components, within established safety guidelines., • Willingness to learn and a positive attitude toward training from the ground up., • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a hands-on, tool-based environment., • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus and quality., • Ability to follow safety protocols and participate actively in safety training., • Willingness to work voluntary overtime as needed, and flexibility if overtime becomes mandatory with notice.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • 1 year or more of assembly experience in a manufacturing or production environment., • Experience using hand tools and power tools in an industrial or mechanical setting., • Basic electrical experience, including familiarity with electrical components or conduit bending., • Strong mechanical inclination and demonstrated mechanical aptitude., • Experience working on an assembly line or in a structured production environment., • Ability to read and understand blueprints or willingness to learn blueprint reading as part of training.Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a temperature-controlled, very clean manufacturing facility that assembles large HVAC units. Workstations are well organized, with tools and equipment laid out to support efficient assembly. The plant is relatively new, and testing stations are still being built out, offering a modern and evolving environment. You will work on 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime is generally voluntary, although it can become mandatory with notice from production leadership, and the facility is currently operating two out of four weekends. You will be on your feet for much of the day and will work closely with team members, with a lead technician available for guidance and support. During your first few weeks, you will shadow a lead technician to learn your station and processes. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, machines, and presses as part of the assembly process. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kentwood, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
