Job Description About the Family We are a warm and supportive family based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our home is faith centered and values kindness, respect, discretion, and excellent care. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled caretaker to provide full time support for our young adult daughter who lives with cerebral palsy. She is nonverbal, uses a wheelchair, and requires strong, intensive daily care. This is a relationship driven role where the right caretaker will play an essential part in maintaining comfort, dignity, and quality of life every day. You will be welcomed into a respectful home environment with clear communication, consistency, and strong support from the family. Our home includes dogs, so comfort around pets is important. Position Overview The caretaker will provide personalized, full spectrum care in a private home setting. This includes assistance with daily living, mobility support, medication support, basic care documentation, and coordination with clinical providers as needed. The ideal candidate is patient, experienced with high touch, intensive care, and comfortable working in a family environment with steady routines and strong attention to detail. Key Responsibilities • Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding while maintaining dignity and comfort, • Support safe transfers between wheelchair, bed, and other equipment using proper techniques and assistive devices such as a Hoyer lift, • Support medication administration as directed and maintain accurate documentation and schedules, • Observe for changes in health status and communicate updates to the family and care team, • Coordinate with nurses, therapists, and physicians for appointments, follow ups, and care plan updates, • Assist with feeding during meals that are provided by the family, ensuring comfort and pacing, • Provide companionship through calm, meaningful engagement such as reading, music, and activities aligned with her interests and abilities, • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment including light housekeeping tasks related to her care such as laundry and sanitizing equipment, • Respect and support the family’s faith centered home environment and participate in spiritual routines as appropriate for the household, • Communicate regularly with the family, including using and respecting her nonverbal communication methods such as eye tracking and gestures Qualifications • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience providing full time care in an intensive, high touch setting, • Experience supporting nonverbal individuals and assistive communication methods preferred, • Current CPR and First Aid certification required, • Training and confidence with safe transfers and medical equipment such as a Hoyer lift preferred, • Understanding of cerebral palsy and its physical and mobility impacts including spasticity, range of motion support, and positioning needs, • Strong observation skills and the ability to interpret nonverbal cues, • Comfort with documentation and care routines including medication schedules, • Physically able to perform the duties of the role, including frequent lifting and transfers, and able to safely lift at least 50 pounds, • Comfortable working in a home with dogs and must enjoy being around them, • Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to confidentiality, • Patient, compassionate, and calm in a close knit family environment, • Comfortable working in a faith centered home and respectful of the family’s valuesWork Environment, • Care is provided in a private home in Charlotte, North Carolina, • Full Time Schedule, • Rotating schedule may include evenings, weekends, and some holidays, • Coordination with family members and occasional visiting nurses and therapists, • All required medical equipment and supplies provided, • Compensation will be discussed directly with the family and will be based on experience, qualifications, and schedule availability, • Professional development opportunities related to caregiving and assistive technology, • Supportive and respectful work environment
