Steppingstones, a state-contracted Birth to Three program, your role will be to support the developmental needs of children enrolled in our program. A heavy focus will be on supporting children’s communication and cognitive development along with supporting infants and young toddlers with delays across developmental areas, within a collaborative team of early interventionists. The Teacher will conduct evaluations/assessments and use the information gathered to help determine a child’s eligibility for services, as well as develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). As a member of the IFSP team, the Teacher will function as families’ Primary Service Provider (PSP) or Supporting Service Provider (SSP). As a family’s PSP, the Teacher will serve as their main point of contact and provide the majority of their services. As a family’s SSP, the Teacher will support the family’s PSP to learn and carryover strategies to support the child’s development. In both of their roles as a PSP and SSP, the Teacher will recommend strategies to support children’s development across developmental areas, with a focus on communication and play skills development. For children receiving autism specialty services, the Teacher will be responsible for implementing learning programs developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) / Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) on the child’s IFSP team. The Teacher may also participate in the implementation of behavior plans developed by the BCBA/LBA. All services provided occur in each child’s natural environment (e.g., their home or daycare), and within the context of their everyday routines and activities (e.g., dressing/diapering, mealtime, play). Using coaching as a style of interaction, the Teacher will ensure the child’s parents’/caregivers are understanding of strategies to support their development. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director, the Head Swim Coach will be responsible for carrying out the overall purpose, goals, objectives and philosophies of the YMCA of Greater Hartford and the YMCA of the USA. The Head Swim Coach should be ready to take the Swim Team Program to the next level. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives., • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans., • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships and partnerships with community organizations., • Promotes and models strong character development among program participants and staff; encourages habits that foster a strong community and team spirit that is consistent with YMCA core values., • Understands and completely adopts the Team Philosophy. Then ensure that the (often rotating) board members, assistant coaches and parents all understand and model it as well., • Attends and league board meetings, and takes charge on any issues that may affect swimmers or coaches, vote in line with the coach philosophy and other association coaches., • Recruits, hires, trains, develop schedules and directs coaches and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates coach performance., • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensure that all other programs and schedules are appropriate for the age, and adhere to the Team Philosophy., • Develop and implement “dry land” strength, conditioning and nutritional program appropriate for all age and swimming levels., • Meet with swimmers and/ or parents to discuss goals and progress, and to ensure that any concerns are addressed within a timely manner., • Proficient using Team Unify, Hytek Meet Manager and Microsoft applications., • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information., • Monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives., • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner., • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program., • Is knowledgeable of daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations., • Collaborates within the YMCA Aquatic Dept. to properly schedule pool facilities for all competitive swimming activities QUALIFICATIONS: • 3+ years experience as a competitive swimmer; collegiate competitive swimming experience preferred;, • 2+ years swim coaching experience preferred;, • Possesses (or can obtain upon hire) USA Swimming and YMCA coaching credentials;, • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics and be able to communicate effectively with swimmers and their parents;, • will require valid USA/ YMCA coaching certification, • will weekend work at swim meets, • Enthusiastic, dynamic presence with good communication skill;, • Certifications: CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain;, • Twenty-one (21) years of age or older preferred.
