Job Description Position Overview We're looking for a hands-on Senior Facilities Technician to operate, maintain, and repair utility and infrastructure systems on a large camp and retreat center campus. This is primarily a hands-on, working role, not a desk job, for someone who takes ownership of keeping power on, water flowing, and systems running. You'll be the primary on-site expert for electrical, water, wastewater, and backup power systems. When something breaks, you're the first call - but it’s even better if you made sure that it doesn’t break! You'll work closely with facilities leadership and outside contractors, but you're expected to diagnose problems and make repairs yourself whenever possible. We're also in a multi-year building phase, and this role will have a seat at the table during design discussions for new construction to bring practical, field-level insight to help us build new facilities that are great spaces for our campers and retreat guests as well as being easier to maintain and operate for decades to come. This role works on a busy campus full of kids during summer and churches, schools, and other community groups in the spring and fall. We're looking for someone who takes safety seriously, models integrity, and is drawn to mission-driven work. What You'll Work On Utilities & Infrastructure • Electrical distribution (including 3-phase systems), • Wells, pumps, water treatment, and pressure systems, • Septic systems including wastewater lift stations and treatment plants, • Backup generators and transfer switches, • Building HVAC systems (residential-scale units, split systems, package units), • Commercial kitchen equipment (ranges, steamers, dishwashers, exhaust hoods), • Walk-in refrigeration and freezers, ice machines, • Equipment operation (tractor, backhoe, telehandler, skid steer), • Chainsaw work and storm response, • Routine facility repairs (door hardware, locks, toilet and faucet repairs, light fixtures, etc.), • Minor construction and carpentry projects, • Preventive maintenance across all building systems, • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules, • Participate in design discussions for upcoming building projects, providing practical input on maintainability, utility routing, equipment selection, and serviceability, • Review plans and specs from an operations perspective to catch problems on paper before they become problems in the field Required • Hands-on experience with utility or infrastructure systems, • Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance background, • Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills, • Heavy equipment operation (backhoe, skid steer, excavator), • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions, • Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions, • Comfortable working on a campus with children and families present, • Able to pass a thorough background check, • Experience with wells, pumps, or pressurized water systems, • Familiarity with 3-phase electrical distribution, • Septic or wastewater system experience, • Generator operation and maintenance, • HVAC experience (residential and light commercial systems), • Commercial kitchen equipment experience, • Pool operator certification or experience, • Boat engine maintenance and repair (outboard and inboard), • Experience working with architects, engineers, or contractors on construction projects, • You take safety seriously - not just for yourself, but for your co-workers and for the kids and guests on campus, • You're honest, even when it's inconvenient, • You're drawn to work that matters in addition to a paycheck, • Full-time, year-round (approximately 40 hours/week), • Some weekend and evening work based on operational needs, • On-call for serious emergencies and weather events, • $75,000 – $85,000 annually, based on experience, • Health insurance, • Retirement plan with employer contribution and profit sharing option, • Paid time off, • Meals during programming seasons, • Stable, year-round employment Sandy Hill Camp and Retreat Center and Eagle Point Retreat together make up a contiguous 643-acre waterfront campus in Cecil County, Maryland.
