Job DescriptionReclaim/General Laborer– Night Shift (6PM–6:15AM) – A leading manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, VA is seeking Reclaim/Scrap Operators to support expanding production needs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with general labor, warehouse, or manufacturing experience who want long-term stability, hands‑on work, and opportunities for cross‑training. Shift: Night Shift – 6:00 PM to 6:15 AM Rotating schedule: 2 days on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off Pay: $17/hr Type: Contract-to-Hire (90 days) Location: Chesapeake, VA Position Overview The Reclaim/Scrap Operator assists production by processing and recycling aluminum material that does not meet quality standards. This includes removing protective film from large aluminum sheets, feeding materials into separators, and helping with general machine and facility cleaning. A simple way to explain the work to candidates: “It’s like peeling the protective film off an iPhone screen—but on sheets 50 times larger.” This is a physical, hands‑on position that involves working around machinery, standing for long periods, and handling materials throughout the shift. Key Responsibilities • Remove protective film from aluminum sheets and process material through a separator, • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, • Support Machine Operators with scrap handling and cleaning tasks, • Follow all safety and environmental protocols, • Perform Lockout/Tagout procedures (training provided), • Use hand tools and basic equipment, • Push/pull materials with pallet jacks, • Assist with machine cleaning, debris removal, and floor maintenance, • Lift up to 30 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally, • Stand, bend, kneel, climb, twist, and reach throughout a 12‑hour shift, • Work safely around moving equipment and large machineryRequired Skills & Experience, • General labor, warehouse, production, or material‑handling experience, • Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment (heat exposure expected), • Comfortable with physical labor and long shifts, • Reliable, safety‑oriented, and willing to learn, • Interest in long‑term work with opportunities for cross‑trainingPreferred (Not Required), • Production Helper experience, • Manufacturing or industrial experience, • Forklift familiarityTraining Schedule, • Week 1: Monday–Friday, 8AM–4:30PM (training), • Week 2: Transition to assigned shift (6PM–6:15AM for this role)Work Environment, • Fast‑paced, industrial production environment, • Non‑climate‑controlled; warm temperatures likely, • Working around industrial machinery and moving equipment, • Steel‑toe shoes required, • Company provides shirt and jacket, • No hoodies or drawstrings permitted for safety reasonsHiring Requirements, • 10‑panel oral drug screen required, • Safety and onboarding forms must be completed before starting, • No interview requiredPerformance Expectations, • Consistent attendance, • On time every shift, • Maintain productivity and stay engaged Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
