This position has a BFOQ to be faith aligned. We are seeking a passionate and mission-driven Major Gifts Officer to help expand the impact of Shepherd’s House Ministries across all sites and advance this life-changing work. The Major Gifts Officer is accountable for identifying, cultivating, and securing transformational gifts from donors to advance the organization’s mission across all sites. They are responsible for achieving revenue goals, maintaining ethical donor relationships, and ensuring donors are meaningfully engaged with the impact of their support. Strategic Work Expectations: • Shall strive for and embody honesty, compassion, forgiveness, mercy, gentleness, hospitality of spirit, and the deep love of Jesus in word and deed, leading with humility, compassion, and self-awareness., • Will work towards having a teachable spirit and a willingness to learn., • Develop and maintain a list of current and planned giving prospects; manage relationships to convert prospects into donors. Manage a portfolio of qualified relationships, leveraging a custom cultivation strategy for each donor., • Identify and cultivate potential individual and corporate donors, soliciting major gifts from current donors and prospects., • Keep a robust schedule of personal visits, effectively sharing the story and purpose of SHM, as well as giving opportunities., • Analyze and evaluate prospects and donors’ propensity, capacity, and enthusiasm to give, including future gifts and planned giving opportunities., • Be available and willing to pray with donors and share any prayer requests they have with the team for prayer., • Execute and report on quarterly/annual fundraising plans, donor solicitations identification, cultivation, campaigns (capital and annual), and stewardship efforts., • Attend and (occasionally) host events for the purposes of acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship for SHM., • Prepare proposals, letters, reports, and customized material as necessary., • Remain knowledgeable in income tax and government regulation changes that affect planned giving and outright gifts., • Adhere to the highest ethical standards, maintain a high level of personal and professional competence in the field of fundraising., • Interface regularly with city and state agencies, and media outlets to increase organizational awareness and standing., • Providing invoice and receipt management, in collaboration with Accounts Payable, complete within 3-5 days of receipt, • Hold weekly 1:1 check-ins with supervisor, • Compliance with SHM’s Employee Handbook and organizational policies., • Attends all -staff meetings and trainings, • Attends Development Team Meetings regularly, • Track prospects and donor contacts in portfolio using organization tools and tracking methods via donor software and in accordance with the team-designated system., • Ensure that all donor information entry, storage, accuracy, and special requests are recorded and accomplished in a timely manner., • Provide monthly reports to the Development Director and advisors on the results and progress of donor relations objectives and efforts. Education & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and/or CFRE preferred., • Must demonstrate a proven fundraising track record, as well as possible history in finance, sales, and marketing., • Spiritually mature, comfortable and effective at sharing the cause and mission of Shepherd’s House Ministries 1:1, in small groups and speaking at churches., • Able to respectfully and compassionately share the stories of lives changed and the needs of those we serve with individuals who can partner with SHM monetarily., • Write concisely and organize content clearly; pay strong attention to details and accuracy., • Effective planner and organizer. Able to think conceptually., • Ability to remain flexible and adapt well., • Persuasive speaker and writer, able to capture and communicate the factual and emotional aspects of SHM’s ministry., • Professional and empathetic interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication, • Requires proficient computer, database, technology, and social media skills., • Work well in a team environment and be able to accept input as well as supervisory guidance., • Must be a self-starter who regularly sets and achieves activity and results-driven goals., • Able and willing to interact with shelter guests in a compassionate and respectful manner., • Knowledgeable and empathetic to the needs of the poor and suffering., • Work will predominantly require individuals to work in a typical office environment., • May occasionally need to work outdoors and after hours for meetings or other fundraising events, • Position requires driving frequently, primarily within the greater Central Oregon, • Requires extended periods of sitting – occasionally Shepherd’s House Ministries provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
