Job Description Job purpose The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and controlling the company’s core accounting operations with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely financial close. This role serves as the primary owner of day-to-day accounting integrity, including journal entry review, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation—while partnering with the Controller on complex accounting matters, close oversight, and financial reporting quality. The Accounting Manager leads and reviews the work of the accounting team, ensures GAAP compliance, and drives continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems. This position enables the Controller to focus on strategic finance, planning, and external reporting by ensuring high-quality accounting execution. Duties and responsibilities Accounting Control & Close Management • Lead and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with established timelines., • Review and approve all journal entries to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance; escalate judgmental or complex matters to the Controller as appropriate., • Prepare and review financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements, prior to Controller review., • Perform and review balance sheet and key account reconciliations., • Review sales activity to ensure accurate and timely sales tax reporting and filings., • Review and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports to support accurate financial reporting and cash flow visibility., • Review and manage inventory balances and related accounting to ensure accurate inventory valuation.Technical Accounting & Judgment, • Manage deferred revenue, inventory-related entries, and roll forward schedules., • Apply accounting policies consistently and escalate complex or judgmental matters to the Controller as appropriate., • Lead, review, and prioritize the work of accounting staff and outsourced accounting resources., • Provide guidance, training, and feedback to improve team accuracy and efficiency., • Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation., • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements., • Serve as a key accounting user for the Epicor ERP system, supporting optimization, reporting, and process design (preferred). Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting., • 5+ years of related experience in finance, accounting, audit or related areas, • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting managerial experience required., • Strong knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)., • Proficiency with accounting software, Excel, and ERP systems, • Ability to exercise sound accounting judgment and attention to detail., • Proven experience leading and reviewing accounting work., • Strong organizational and time management skills., • Ability to work in an office setting, and spend primary working hours at a desk using a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc. Safety Requirements Abide by company’s safety policies and procedures The hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
