Role Profile: Field Service Technical Trainer Location: Dallas, TX (up to 50% travel within CBSS regions) Reports To: Employee Development Manager Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary Cleaver-Brooks Sales & Service is seeking a Field Service Technical Trainer to support the development and readiness of our field service and mechanical workforce. This role is responsible for designing, delivering, and standardizing technical training programs through a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and in-field coaching. The Field Service Technical Trainer works closely with field leadership and technicians to ensure training translates into safe, effective performance on customer sites. This role plays a key part in supporting service growth objectives by increasing technician competency, certification, and progression, including advancing Control Technicians to Level 3 and above. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Field Coaching and Workforce Development • Coordinate with General Managers and Service Managers to schedule customer site visits for training purposes., • Conduct structured ride-alongs and field shadowing to reinforce classroom learning in real-world environments., • Observe technician performance and provide documented coaching feedback related to technical skills, safety practices, customer interactions, and adherence to company procedures., • Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps, high-potential employees, and underperformance, and support targeted development plans., • Administer and evaluate competency assessments for Level 1 through Level 3 Control Technicians., • Serve as a connection point between formal training and field execution to ensure skills are effectively applied. Training Program Development and Delivery • Design, develop, and deliver Level 1 and Level 2 Control Technician training, including classroom instruction and hands-on labs., • Design, develop, and deliver Level 1 Boiler Mechanical training programs., • Develop and deliver customer-facing skills training focused on service quality and professionalism., • Create and maintain supplemental learning resources such as job aids, troubleshooting guides, and instructional videos to support ongoing learning. Onboarding and Ongoing Development • Support onboarding by delivering orientation sessions for new technicians and mechanics., • Provide soft skills training to enhance customer communication and professionalism., • Collaborate with field leadership to track progress and address emerging development needs. Training Administration and Coordination • Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual training sessions, including scheduling, registration, and communication., • Maintain accurate training records and provide reports on participation, completion, and key training metrics., • Serve as the primary point of contact for training-related inquiries from managers and technicians., • Prepare training materials, rooms, equipment, and on-site needs, including meals when applicable., • Assist with Learning Management System administration, including user support and course assignments., • Ensure training documentation and course materials remain current and accessible. Standardization and Continuous Improvement • Develop and maintain standardized training modules for boiler systems, panels, doors, and control boards., • Establish consistent documentation, testing criteria, and certification standards., • Update training content based on field feedback, performance data, and evolving business needs. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with Service and Rentals teams to ensure training supports all applicable product lines., • Support employee engagement and retention efforts by accelerating technician readiness and career progression. Qualifications and Experience • Strong hands-on experience servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial or commercial boiler systems., • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences., • Experience designing and delivering technical training programs preferred., • Ability to translate complex technical processes into structured, easy-to[1]understand learning content., • Technical degree or certification preferred., • Prior experience with Cleaver-Brooks equipment required.
