Job DescriptionCHARLESTON METRO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Member Engagement Manager Job Title: Member Engagement Manager Division: Membership & Corporate Partnerships Reports to: Senior Vice President of Membership & Corporate Partnerships FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Revised Date: February 19, 2026 Description The Member Engagement Manager plays a vital role in advancing the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s mission to initiate, advocate, and empower a prosperous business environment across our region. This position is responsible for driving membership growth by identifying and securing new members, while cultivating strong, lasting relationships that enhance member engagement and retention. Serving as a key ambassador of the Chamber, the Member Engagement Manager connects regularly with business leaders and stakeholders throughout Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties, representing the Chamber at meetings, events, and in the broader community. This role requires a proactive, relationship-focused professional who thrives in a goal-oriented environment and is passionate about supporting the success of the local business community. Through this work, the Member Engagement Manager contributes directly to strengthening the Chamber’s impact, expanding its network, and fostering meaningful connections that support the continued growth and vitality of the Greater Charleston region. Essential Functions and Responsibilities • Develop and follow up on membership leads for new member sales, • Actively seek new members by cold calling, researching and performing other lead generation activities, • Targeting small businesses in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, • Present and explain membership benefits to potential new members, • Maintain knowledge of goals, objectives and services provided by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, • Actively support and attend Chamber events, • Provide excellent customer service and have a positive attitude dailyRequired Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in any field or relevant work experience, • Minimum of 2-year sales experience, • Ability to meet and exceed monthly sales goals, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, • Knowledge and ability to work in a CRM database and Microsoft Office, • Self-motivated, team oriented and organized, • Ability to embrace change and respond to daily situations that arise, • Ability to work flexible hours including early morning and evening eventsDesired Skills, • Have a servant heart, • Ability to multi-task in a busy, fast-paced environment, • Self-directed and able to work with little supervision, • Seek out opportunities to grow and improve, not wait for them to show up, • Proactive in addressing issues before they are a concern to the staff, • Collaborative, not directive, in your communication approach, • Exhibit a solidly calm demeanor under stressful situations, • Is results driven and tenacious, • Collaborate with team members to find the most comprehensive solutions for all involved, • Take accountability for own actions, words and behavior, • Know when a situation requires urgency and when to prioritize in light of financial ability and/or viewing the matter from a high-level organizational view, • Encouraging to your co-workersOther Relevant Attributes Necessary for Success, • Self-starter who can anticipate the next thing, move, etc. and can help see where Chamber should or shouldn't weigh in., • A strategic thinker, who can see the big picture, • Understands the Chamber’s work and has buy-in into our mission, • A hard worker, not a clock watcher.
