Job DescriptionDescription: RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Women’s Basketball, the Director of Women’s Basketball is responsible for the following: REGULAR SEASON • Forecast, manage and track the general operating budget., • Coordinate communications with the ACC campus constituents and national organizations., • Assist the Senior Vice President, Women’s Basketball, with the game schedule processes by conducting relevant research and providing input., • Analyze schedule models to satisfy conference parameters and competitive equity characteristics., • Provide strategic input regarding attractive and competitive matchups to best showcase ACC Women’s Basketball and position league teams for NCAA Tournament selection., • Coordinate the preparation and dissemination of game management manuals, annual meetings, and conference call agenda/support materials., • Collaborate with the member institutions to communicate and manage consistent game management policies/procedures. Areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:, • Manage the institutional Video Coordinators and oversee the scout film video exchange program., • Organize and oversee the television timeout coordinator program., • Serve as the main conference office contact providing oversight for general conference game management policies and procedures., • Assist the Senior Vice President Women’s Basketball, with investigating any basketball related incidents which may negatively affect the Conference brand or be in violation of either the Conference Sportsmanship Principle or policy manual and recommend appropriate disciplinary action to the Commissioner., • Assist the Senior Vice President, Women’s Basketball, with developing plans on a local and national level to cultivate relationships with external constituents, promote the league and the ACC Women’s Basketball Championship in ways that enhance the prestige and position of the Conference., • Coordinate and plan all necessary site visits for current and future tournament locations., • Coordinate, plan, and update all pre-tournament calls and communications including the WBB Tournament manuals and tournament calls/meetings with all tournament stakeholders (i.e., arena personnel, ESPN, medical teams, ticket managers, DOBOs, and sport administrators), • Serve as the Conference on-site liaison for championship event planning, and operations to ensure a positive championship experience for student-athletes, coaches, and fans., • Facilitate and oversee all Women’s Basketball Championship operations including credentials, hospitality, on and off-site practices, team liaisons, arena security plans, court/goal arrival and installation, timing sheets, beverage sponsors, and game operations., • Recruit and manage the championship operations staff and volunteers including staff ticketing requests, per diem, transportation, parking, and lodging., • Manage all aspects of the championship budget and work with facility management/LOC and ACC Business office to verify the post-event financial settlement as dictated by the event contract., • Arrange hotel accommodations for appropriate operational staff, volunteers, promotional acts, mascots, and officials., • Work with the Senior Vice President, Women’s Basketball, the Charlotte Sports Foundation, sponsors, VIPs, ACC staff members, and school ticket managers to ensure ticketing needs are met., • Work with the Senior Vice President, Women’s Basketball, the Director of Sports Technology, and the Supervisor of Officials to utilize technology to further enhance officiating and league operations., • Consult with the Manager of Officiating Operations and ACC Supervisor of Women’s Basketball Officials to ensure needs of game officials are met. Requirements: EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree or professional certification in a related field preferred, • 4+ years of relevant experience, • Problem solving, critical thinking and excellent time management skills are required, • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills., • Ability to demonstrate a calm, courteous and professional demeanor under pressure when working with a variety of situations and/or people., • Proven ability to take initiative and make sound decisions without direction., • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously., • High attention to detail and organizational skills. WORK ENVIRONMENT • This position typically operates in an office setting but also indoor and outdoor venues including stadiums, arenas, and fields. Additionally, please note the following:, • Ability to remain sitting for up to 8 hours at a desk or computer., • Ability to remain standing/walking for up to 4 hours., • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs. of equipment., • Ability to squat, kneel, reach, and maneuver while setting up equipment., • Due to the nature of the ACC’s business, travel will occur to multiple sites as dictated by major and minor event schedules., • Due to the nature of events indoors and outdoors, you must be able to endure varying weather conditions including wind, rain, and high and low temperatures., • Understanding that due to the nature of our business working hours can include nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
