Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Production TechnicianJob Description The Maintenance Production Technician supports a high-volume production facility by performing general and advanced maintenance on plant equipment and systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and PLC-controlled equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The position requires working night shifts, frequent overtime, and weekend coverage, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities • Perform all maintenance activities in strict accordance with established safety policies, procedures, and programs, including adherence to leadership safety initiatives., • Support and promote continuous improvement by actively participating in planning, engagement, awareness, and knowledge programs aimed at enhancing maintenance and production performance., • Uphold the company’s standards of conduct and maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in all tasks and interactions., • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workstation that meets internal housekeeping and safety standards., • Accurately record and submit labor hours and maintenance activities using the Micromain system or other designated maintenance management tools., • Effectively troubleshoot plant equipment, identify root causes of issues, and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime., • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems, HVAC systems, chillers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and mechanical components., • Read and interpret equipment prints, sketches, schematics, and technical documentation to perform routine and corrective maintenance., • Tear down, inspect, repair, and overhaul equipment components such as pumps, valves, regulators, motors, and related assemblies., • Complete required reports, logs, and documentation for assigned work orders, inspections, and maintenance activities in a clear and accurate manner., • Support site-wide objectives by collaborating with other departments and aligning maintenance work with production needs and priorities., • Apply strong knowledge of mechanical components and their interaction with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to perform comprehensive equipment maintenance., • Work flexibly across different shifts, including nights and weekends, based on operational requirements and scheduling needs., • Work overtime as needed to support production demands, planned shutdowns, and unplanned equipment outages., • Utilize welding skills when needed to support repairs or fabrication tasks, where applicable., • Participate in meetings and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding maintenance status, issues, and improvement opportunities., • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment by supporting coworkers, sharing knowledge, and demonstrating pride in the workplace., • Adapt to changes in production schedules, priorities, and work assignments while managing multiple tasks effectively., • Follow all organizational policies and procedures and complete assignments accurately and on time., • Use basic computer skills to access documentation, enter data, and support maintenance-related systems and tools., • Apply lockout/tagout procedures and other safety practices when working on energized or potentially hazardous equipment., • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by shift coordinators and the leadership team.Essential Skills, • Trade school maintenance program completion or a 2-year associate degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • Two to five years of related maintenance experience and/or training in an industrial or production environment., • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including reading and interpreting electrical schematics., • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic components., • Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic components., • Experience with HVAC systems and chillers, including diagnostic troubleshooting and repair., • Familiarity with PLCs, with the ability to program and troubleshoot PLCs preferred., • Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English., • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence related to maintenance work., • Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly, respond to questions, and participate effectively in group discussions and meetings., • Basic computer skills to support maintenance documentation, reporting, and use of maintenance management systems., • Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts., • Strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization., • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions., • Experience with lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices around energized equipment., • Ability to obtain a forklift license and operate material handling equipment safely., • Physical ability to stand and walk frequently; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear while performing job duties., • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance., • Visual acuity to support close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus., • Willingness and ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift, including nights and weekends, and to work overtime as needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Ability to program and troubleshoot PLCs is preferred and considered a strong asset., • HVAC certification is preferred and enhances effectiveness in maintaining climate-related systems., • Experience with robotics, millwright work, welding, and fabrication is advantageous for supporting complex maintenance tasks., • Familiarity with letter-based logic or related control logic concepts used in automated systems., • Experience working in a production environment that is not climate controlled., • Demonstrated competency in electrical troubleshooting across a range of industrial equipment., • Experience with arc flash safety practices and the use of arc flash protective equipment., • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also performing tasks independently with minimal supervision., • Strong adaptability and change management skills, including the ability to adjust to changing production schedules and priorities., • Demonstrated commitment to quality, including accuracy, thoroughness, and continuous improvement in maintenance work., • Leadership-oriented behaviors such as motivating others, influencing actions, accepting feedback, and recognizing the contributions of teammates.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a production environment that is not climate controlled, meaning temperatures can vary significantly with the seasons and operational conditions. You will regularly work around moving mechanical parts and energized equipment and will be exposed to a risk of electrical shock. At times, you may work in wet or humid conditions, at heights, around fumes or airborne particles, and near toxic or caustic chemicals, as well as in both extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level is usually loud, and appropriate hearing protection is required. Personal protective equipment includes safety glasses with side shields, safety-toed shoes, electrically rated footwear, task-appropriate gloves, hearing protection, fall protection, and arc flash equipment such as jumpsuits, face shields, and specialized gloves. The environment is strongly team oriented, yet you must also be comfortable working independently to complete assigned tasks. Typical shifts include a 2nd shift schedule of 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and a 3rd shift schedule of Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:20 a.m., with training conducted on 1st shift for approximately 4–6 weeks before moving to the designated shift. Overtime and weekend work are common, especially during periods of high demand or until staffing levels are fully established. The dress code typically includes jeans, steel-toe footwear, and a company shirt or t-shirt, with safety glasses provided on-site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr.
