Job DescriptionJob Title: HVAC Technician Job Description This role focuses primarily on performing preventative maintenance and repairs on large commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including rooftop units. You inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical components such as belts and bearings, while also supporting general facility maintenance as needed. The position requires regular ladder use and work on rooftop equipment, along with accurate documentation of all maintenance and service activities. Responsibilities • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on large HVAC systems, including rooftop units, to ensure safe and efficient operation., • Inspect, replace, and adjust belts, bearings, and other mechanical components on HVAC equipment., • Troubleshoot HVAC and basic electrical issues and complete appropriate repairs in a timely manner., • Work on rooftop units (RTUs), including accessing and servicing equipment located on building roofs., • Climb ladders and safely access elevated work areas to service HVAC systems and related components., • Support general facility maintenance tasks as needed, in addition to core HVAC responsibilities., • Complete basic data entry and paperwork to document PM activities, service calls, and repair work., • Follow established safety procedures and best practices while working with mechanical and electrical systems., • Communicate equipment status, issues, and completed work clearly and professionally to the appropriate stakeholders.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 2 years of HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial environment., • Hands-on experience performing preventative maintenance on large and rooftop HVAC systems., • Proficiency in belt replacement, including inspection, tensioning, and alignment., • Proficiency in bearing replacement and related mechanical repairs on HVAC equipment., • Experience working on rooftop units (RTUs), including safe access and service procedures., • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems and basic electrical issues., • Mechanical aptitude with strong repair and maintenance skills., • Ability to perform basic data entry and complete service and PM documentation accurately., • Comfort with climbing ladders and working at heights to access rooftop and elevated equipment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with preventative maintenance programs in commercial or industrial facilities., • Familiarity with standard HVAC tools, test instruments, and maintenance procedures., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing work accurately and safely., • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a scheduled workday., • Good communication skills for interacting with team members and facility personnel.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work primarily in an indoor, climate-controlled facility with regular access to rooftop areas for servicing RTUs. The role involves frequent use of ladders and standard HVAC tools and equipment, as well as working both inside mechanical rooms and on building rooftops. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
