Job Description Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician – Automation Lead (3rd Shift) Job Description This role leads the maintenance and technical ownership of newly installed automated production equipment in a clean manufacturing environment. You will travel to Chicago to receive in-depth training on the new automation systems and return as the primary expert who maintains, troubleshoots, and optimizes the equipment while training other technicians. The position focuses on electrical and mechanical maintenance, including PLCs, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and boiler systems, with a strong emphasis on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement on the 3rd shift. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components, including motors, control panels, PLCs, and related automation equipment., • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to diagnose and resolve issues., • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, internal standards, and safety regulations., • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment such as conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and related machinery., • Diagnose mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement effective, long-term solutions to prevent recurrence., • Assist with installation, commissioning, upgrades, and modifications of production and automation equipment., • Serve as the primary technical owner of the new automated equipment after training, acting as the go-to expert for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting., • Travel to Chicago to receive specialized training on new automation systems and apply that knowledge to the production environment., • Train and mentor other maintenance technicians on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the new equipment., • Perform electrical troubleshooting on 3-phase power systems and industrial control circuits., • Conduct preventive maintenance activities on chillers, boilers, HVAC components, and other support systems as required., • Support boiler maintenance and operation tasks in line with safety and equipment guidelines., • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation., • Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to minimize equipment downtime and improve overall system reliability., • Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, reliability, and safety., • Perform equipment repairs, parts replacements, and adjustments to restore optimal operation., • Assist in ensuring that all maintenance activities are performed safely, using proper lockout/tagout and other safety procedures., • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing environment., • 3+ years of maintenance experience in a production environment., • 3+ years of experience with industrial electrical systems., • At least 1 year of experience working with boiler equipment and boiler maintenance., • Strong proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical systems, including 3-phase power and control circuits., • Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial environment., • Proficiency in repairing and maintaining pumps, motors, gearboxes, and mechanical drive systems., • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment such as conveyors, hydraulic systems, and related machinery., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings., • Demonstrated experience with industrial maintenance repair, installation, and equipment upgrades., • Comfort working with hydraulics and pneumatics in a production setting., • Ability to act as a technical leader and subject matter expert on new equipment and automation systems., • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systems., • Experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment is strongly preferred., • TIG welding experience is a significant plus for equipment repair and fabrication tasks., • General welding experience, including TIG welding, is beneficial., • Experience with chillers, boiler maintenance, and HVAC systems in an industrial setting., • Experience in industrial maintenance and electrical maintenance in production environments., • Ability to read and work from schematic diagrams for both electrical and mechanical systems., • Experience with industrial automation equipment and continuous improvement initiatives., • Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation., • Willingness and ability to travel to Chicago for automation training. Work Environment The role is based in a clean production facility where new automation and modern equipment are being installed and commissioned. You will work on the 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., supporting production during overnight operations. The environment includes automated machinery, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, chillers, boilers, HVAC equipment, and PLC-controlled systems. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, including beard and hair nets, eye protection, and steel-toe footwear. Technicians must provide their own tools, and the organization is updating its benefits to include tool and boot vouchers. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
