Job Description Characteristics of Work Under the supervision of the Family and Community Services Director, the Family and Community Services Specialist is responsible for planning, implementing, tracking, and evaluating parent involvement programs, including, but not limited to, the Family Literacy Project, Wellness Program, and Transition Activities. Essential Functions These essential functions include but are not limited to, the following: The agency may identify and include additional essential functions. Planning and Organizing Collects data and participates in writing and updating the Family and Community Services Work Plan and Volunteer Services Plan. Requests needed professional services, Special Projects, Parents’ Involvement and Volunteer Services, supplies, and equipment. Assists with the negotiation of contracts and other agreements with professionals. Provides for the integration of Family and Community Services into the Head Start program. Assists with the coordination of parent/policy groups. Conducts center visits in accordance with the Family/Community Services Work Plan. Provides follow-up services based on the assessment of parent needs. Submit and sign off on documentation of parent participation in Family/Community Services activities. Inputs Volunteer and in-kind data in an accurate and timely manner. Coordinate Selection Committee meetings for Head Start acceptance. Organize and coordinate recruitment and enrollment activities for Head Start Enrollment. Communicating Serves as staff liaison to the Policy Council Governing Board. Assists with developing program schedules, recording keeping and reporting systems. Disseminate literacy and parenting community resources to parents. Establish and maintain a lending library for children and their parents. Recruit volunteer and in-kind contributions. Recruit children for enrollment in Head Start and Early Head Start. Collaborated with agencies and organizations that promote parents as primary educators, nurturers, and advocates. Serves on program committees and committees and boards of other organizations affiliated with children and families. Training Participates in team planning sessions. Assists with the assessment of parents and staff training needs. Attend and participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, activities, and other program activities. Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions. Conducts training sessions for staff, parents, and volunteers. Monitoring Ensure that each record is in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards. Checks, verifies, and maintains confidential and other required records to ensure effective delivery of services. Performs management oversight monitoring of assigned centers. Monitor compliance with the National Assn. of Social Workers Code of Ethics. Makes recommendations for disciplinary action in accord with the personnel policies and procedures based on monitoring of the performance of FSW in assigned Centers. Record Keeping and Reporting Assist in developing program schedules, record keeping and reporting systems. Prepares, implements, and distributes Parent Activity Fund Expenditure Plan with the Policy Council’s approval. Prepares and submits program reports as required. Supervising and Evaluating Provides input in developing Job Descriptions and Performance Evaluation Plans for Family Services Workers and Family Services Assistants. Participates in the Performance Evaluation process of the Family Service Workers and Family Service Assistants. Makes recommendations based on routine and random monitoring. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a valid Mississippi Social Work License with at least two (2) years of experience in social and/or community services. Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication. Must possess basic computer skills. Special Requirements Applicants must: -pass Criminal Background and Child Abuse Central Registry Checks -meet State Health requirements Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, hand, or feel objects when performing health services and operating an Agency vehicle. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. if necessary to lift a child. While performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works in an indoor condition. Supervisory Control The Family and Community Services Specialist is directly responsible to the Family and Community Services Director who is responsible to the Vice President, Head Start and Early Childhood Programs. The Family and Community Services Specialist will be evaluated annually by the Family and Community Services Director. The evaluation will be conducted through a process of performance monitoring and progress reviews. The evaluation will be reviewed by the Vice President of Head Start and Early Childhood Programs. Company DescriptionCharacteristics of Work Under the supervision of the Center Administrator and indirect supervision and training of/by the Director of Facilities and Field Services, the Custodian/Security Guard is responsible for the daily housekeeping and cleaning of the entire Head Start Center, both indoors and outdoors, as well as continual campus monitoring and security. Essential Functions These essential functions include but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the Agency. Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming, as required. Gathers and empties trash. Service, clean, and supply restrooms on a continuous basis each day. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures, taking care to store and lock cleaning materials out of the reach/access of children. Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or by using a hand truck, dolly, or maintenance cart. Notifies the Center Administrator concerning the need for major repairs. Spreads ice melt on stairs, ramps, porches, and sidewalks, as warranted. Sets up for meetings and functions. Cleans and polishes furniture, fixtures, mirrors, and windows. Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment. Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors. Mixes chemicals for cleaning. Makes minor repairs (changing bulbs, switch plates, outlet covers, tightening screws, toilet seats, and minor plumbing repairs). Planning and Organizing Stores garbage, trash, and other items for disposal in accordance with proper sanitation procedures. Requests janitorial supplies. Implementing Activities Inspects buildings and grounds for unsafe conditions. Removes hazardous debris from center grounds on a daily basis. Cleans floors, bathrooms, and classrooms daily in accordance with proper cleaning procedures. Performs cleaning tasks such as dusting and washing windows and walls on a regular basis. Recording, Keeping, and Reporting Maintains an inventory of adequate janitorial supplies and keeps classrooms and bathrooms properly supplied. Communicating and Guiding Performs minor replacements and repairs to fixtures and furnishing in accordance with the work plan., including replacing light bulbs, as needed. Training and Supporting Participates in staff meetings, parent meetings, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and parent activities. Recruit volunteers and in-kind contributions.
