Job Description Characteristics of Work The incumbent is responsible for the development and the continuing effectiveness of an internal and external communications program for the Agency. The work includes establishing and maintaining effective contact among information outlets. Work is performed under direct supervision from the Vice President of Planning and Development and is evaluated based on program and project results achieved. The incumbent oversees and coordinates the Agency’s Communications Plans. Essential Functions These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified by the Agency. Assist in the development and maintenance of policies, objectives, goals, etc. for the total Agency communications program. Develops and maintains the Agency’s website. athers, writes, clears with appropriate officials, and disseminates news releases or articles having immediate news, and educational value concerning the Agency, its programs, services and activities. Develops, implements, and maintains an informational system, as necessary, to conduct general liaison with the news media and government ublic relations officers, insofar as such activities are limited to communications and liaison necessary to keep the public informed on matters of public concern, such as notices of federal contract/grant awards, financial matters, and client eligibility requirements. Prepares copy for radio or TV programs. Develops and implements communication programs for use in magazines, newspapers, radio, television, and other informational media; promotes and maintains contact with representatives of these media for purposes of establishing outlets to disseminate information. Coordinates Agency relationships with professional organizations, conventions, civic clubs, church groups, school or PTA gathering, and other groups. Coordinates activities of the Agency's in-house printing operations. Coordinates and approves all informational materials for the Agency and its programs, including letterhead, business cards, forms, all Agency newsletters, fliers, printed programs, certificates, brochures and other similar instruments. Develops and maintains an overall Agency external communications plan. Develops and maintains a communications "crisis plan" for the Agency. Prepares photographic displays, news articles, and other informational material describing the Agency and its programs and activities. Coordinates preparation and publication of Agency’s Annual Report. Additional Responsibilities Performs any related duties as assigned. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in communications, marketing or a related field and two (2) years of work experience related to the above described duties. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Computer literate. Graphic design skills a plus. Company DescriptionCharacteristics of Work Under the supervision of the Center Administrator and indirect supervision and training of/by the Director of Facilities and Field Services, the Custodian/Security Guard is responsible for the daily housekeeping and cleaning of the entire Head Start Center, both indoors and outdoors, as well as continual campus monitoring and security. Essential Functions These essential functions include but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the Agency. Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming, as required. Gathers and empties trash. Service, clean, and supply restrooms on a continuous basis each day. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures, taking care to store and lock cleaning materials out of the reach/access of children. Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or by using a hand truck, dolly, or maintenance cart. Notifies the Center Administrator concerning the need for major repairs. Spreads ice melt on stairs, ramps, porches, and sidewalks, as warranted. Sets up for meetings and functions. Cleans and polishes furniture, fixtures, mirrors, and windows. Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment. Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors. Mixes chemicals for cleaning. Makes minor repairs (changing bulbs, switch plates, outlet covers, tightening screws, toilet seats, and minor plumbing repairs). Planning and Organizing Stores garbage, trash, and other items for disposal in accordance with proper sanitation procedures. Requests janitorial supplies. Implementing Activities Inspects buildings and grounds for unsafe conditions. Removes hazardous debris from center grounds on a daily basis. Cleans floors, bathrooms, and classrooms daily in accordance with proper cleaning procedures. Performs cleaning tasks such as dusting and washing windows and walls on a regular basis. Recording, Keeping, and Reporting Maintains an inventory of adequate janitorial supplies and keeps classrooms and bathrooms properly supplied. Communicating and Guiding Performs minor replacements and repairs to fixtures and furnishing in accordance with the work plan., including replacing light bulbs, as needed. Training and Supporting Participates in staff meetings, parent meetings, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and parent activities. Recruit volunteers and in-kind contributions. Recruit children for enrollment in Head Start. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent; two (2) years experience in custodial services Ability to communicate effectively.
